cruisewiththekids Posted October 26, 2021 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2021 I am looking at two identical 5 night itineraries. One is on the Elation and the other on the Sunrise. I haven't been on either ship. Which would you choose and why? Thanks.
txgal08 Posted October 26, 2021 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2021 Better check the sunrise because I think that might be the boat that still in drydock. If it hasn’t started cruising yet I would choose the other one
Heartgrove Posted October 26, 2021 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2021 The Carnival Sunrise is in Nassau today. The Carnival Radiance is currently enroute to Freeport from Cadiz, Spain, and the Carnival Sunshine remains in the shipyard at Cadiz.
staceyglow Posted October 26, 2021 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2021 Sunrise is not in dry dock. We sailed on her in October.
abby1257 Posted October 26, 2021 #5 Share Posted October 26, 2021 Isn't the Elation much smaller than the Sunrise...

mlshum Posted October 26, 2021 #7 Share Posted October 26, 2021 I just got off Sunrise about a week and a half ago. I've been uploading the pictures and story here on Cruise Critic a little at a time as I finish sections. I haven't been on Elation but we did enjoy Sunrise. I think Sunrise is a little bigger than Elation. Elation is Fantasy class and Sunrise (while I don't know what class) is similar in size to Conquest. abby1257 Posted October 26, 2021 #8 Share Posted October 26, 2021 The Sunrise used be the Triumph....
jsglow Posted October 26, 2021 #9 Share Posted October 26, 2021 Sunrise is a nice ship, one of now three fully refurbished in the Sunshine Class. I'd sail her again in a heartbeat. Elation is one of 4 remaining Fantasy Class ships; Carnival's oldest and smallest.
JerseyGirlJen Posted October 26, 2021 #10 Share Posted October 26, 2021 Sunrise. It's newer and has nice upgrades.
dezertcruzer Posted October 26, 2021 #11 Share Posted October 26, 2021 Different home ports, too. Elation is out of Port Canaveral and Sunrise is out of Miami. I don't know if that might influence your decision or not. Either way, you'll be on a ship and that's what it's all about!
Bostwick girl Posted October 26, 2021 #12 Share Posted October 26, 2021 Don’t know if it matters to you, but if you enjoy having a sofa in your cabin, then don’t book Elation. There’s no sofa, only a straight back chair. We will never sail on her again! I would definitely choose the Sunrise any day!
