More Coral Princess cruises have been cancelled (including World Cruise!)

Yes, and the 24 WC is 110 days.

It's something we've both always dreamed of doing. With no cruising for two or more years, and the fact that we are getting older, we figure we need to do it sooner than later while we still have some money. It might mean not so much cruising after that one but at least we'll have achieved our dream. We're really keen to get on the 2024 cruise as it goes to the Baltic countries. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there might be some cabins left after all the move-over offers have been processed.

Ive not really looked much into world cruises, its never really been on my agenda, but after reading about the RCI one, then a silversea one, and now followed by this princess one, i think I’d love to do one. My problem I couldn’t get DH on it for that long, so not sure it will ever happen!

So jealous, hope you get on it!

Hi OzKiwkiJj,

sorry do not know your name.

that cruise sounds wonderful.   I hope you get on it,   Too long for my husband.   But it sounds great if you would like it.

have you got a good travel agent or are you booking direct with Princess?

good luck

Hi Eileen,

I'm Julie.

Since Princess keep insisting on allocating a Personal Vacation Planner to me I've decided to try booking through her. I don't know if Princess gives any preference to it's PVPs but maybe she can work miracles.

We both enjoy long cruises. We did the 35 night Hawaii/Tahiti cruise in 2019 and loved it so much we didn't want to get off the ship. We'd just got into a nice shipboard routine. 110 nights might be a challenge though. 😯🤣

Hi Julie,

I am sure you will have a lovely time.   I am sure Princess will look after you.

I have been booking most of my cruises through the cruise companies in this environment as when they have cancelled I seem to get the deposits back quickly.

I have upgraded my future cruises and have booked a few with  Azamara and have found an agent who seems to have good deals with them so have a few booked.   I understand that I am not able to mention any agents on the CC.

RCL have refunded my deposits very quickly.   We are now Diamond but have not been able to actually use them yet but have one booked for next year.  Four free drinks each day means I can try all the various cocktails!

woo hoo

We reached Elite on Princess at the end of the Hawaii/Tahiti cruise in 2019. That gives us free laundry which will be very useful on a world cruise. We just have to allow for a three day turnaround but that's not a big problem.

I was very pleasantly surprised as to how quickly Princess processed our moveover from the 2022 Round Australia cruise. It was just on a week since we got the cancellation notice. For previous cancellations we just took the FCC option. Mind you if we get a booking on the 2024 world cruise we won't be able to do the Round Australia cruise that year. That might be pushing the budget too far. It might have to wait until 2025.

Julie, we have used a Princess Planner for a couple of years now. He has been wonderful, nothing is a problem and he has always been able to find and book all my requests - preferred cabin, locations, move funds around, cancel a cruise, rebook another cruise - even fixed a problem with logging in on the Princess website. Positive they have access to areas we only imagine  exist 😉 (now if he could just start Princess cruising again 🙄)
Hope you manage to find someone as helpful.

cheers, Rose

Eileen,

I’m with you, I like booking with cruise company.

If you “personally” make your booking direct with the cruise line YOU are in control of the outcome (most of the time - post pandemic who knows).

But then I’m a bit of a control freak and it suits us to do things this way - if anything goes awry, only ourselves to blame  🙄

I would try a Planner and see how you find them, if they don’t suit, you can go back to booking as you always did.

We are of course all very different and whatever works personally for each of us is the best way.

Rose.

Rose, how quickly does your planner respond to your requests? I emailed my assigned planner early Tuesday afternoon. She phoned within an hour but unfortunately I was just on my way out for an appointment so didn't have much time to talk with her but I did say email was better for me. Actually she was lucky my husband answered the phone as we get so many scam calls we only answer the phone if we recognise the number calling, but Rolf was waiting for a call from a tradie so answered it.

I expected a quick email from her acknowledging the requests in my first email and perhaps giving me a indication if they were possible or not but haven't heard anything.

I emailed her again yesterday with some other questions, and also explained a little more about our scam call problems so I will see if she acknowledges that one.

scam calls are the most horrible thing that we have to put up to.  A friend’s husband answered the phone after she had booked shore excursions and he just said it was the bank on the phone.   She actually thought it was and ended up having her bank account emptied.

I am also a control freak and organise all our holidays, all hotel bookings done on booking.com and flights first checking on sky scanner.

my husband gets asked at golf which boat we are going on.  He always says he just agrees and fronts up, although I do ask him if he is happy with my choices.

maybe one day we will go on a boat again!!!

You sound like me, Eileen. I do all the planning, budgeting, and booking. I use various booking agencies and cross-check with the accommodation places in case I can get a better rate that way. To me that's all part of the fun of it. I do discuss things regularly with Rolf though so he gets some input into the decisions.

That's probably why I've resisted using a Princess Planner for so long but I'm hoping it might give me a slight edge when the bookings for that world cruise open. I have used a US TA for a couple of overseas cruises but she specialises in the luxury lines so I'm not sure how much pull she has with Princess.

I have usually used a TA  I have 3/4 that I see which gives the best offer.  For the world half cruise the difference of obc from booking direct or booking through an agent was $800  plus a limousine from door to door  so a no brainer for me

Agree, we tend to book the majority of things ourselves, I do all the planning (and advise Hubby of a few key things).

In regards to cruising for a simple cruise, i prefer to do it myself, so I can own the booking, call and get appropriate discounts etc, I’ve currently got a transpacific booked, that we really aren’t sure if we will go ahead with it (depending on the Tahiti situation), it wasn’t worth sending to a TA for $200 discount.

Our upcoming Antartica cruise, I had a cabin on hold, had all our discounts applied and then found out who could give a discount. We ended up with a $3600 discount so I handed the booking over.

Julie,

If I leave a voice message he gets back to me within hours - emails a touch slower but only 24hours or so.
Have you been given the Planners extension number? That’s were I leave any messages, when I need to.

Quite happy to message you my Planners details if you like?
We are currently only Platinum tho, so don’t know if they have different level Planners? Like, ones for Gold, Ruby, Platinum, Elite?

Thanks. Yes, she sent me her extension number in her original email. But I prefer to send emails as that way I have a record of what I requested.

I'm not sure we can swap Planners just like that. Princess assigns Planner to you. I don't know what you do if you don't like your Planner though.

Anyway I'll see what happens over the next few days. One of the things I've asked her is to give be an idea of the BA cabin fares on the world cruise. That should be fairly easy to do, and shouldn't be restricted info.

She just emailed me, just over 24 hours. She hasn't answered any of my questions, just wants to phone me on Monday at a time that suits me in case I may have other questions. Hmmm! She obviously didn't listen the other day when I said I prefer emails.

Oh well, I'll set up the phone call and see what happens. Whatever the discussion I'll be asking her to confirm everything by email.

Well, that’s good news and I usually get everything emailed following talks - so looks positive. Let us know how it goes.

Just do a half WC, we did one in 2012, Sydney to Southampton on Arcadia, 49 days, just enough.

It didn't!

I responded to her request on Friday for a Monday call and suggested 2pm Sydney time. I have heard nothing from her since. No phone call, no email. Oh well, it looks like I'll have to resort to Plan B or C.
