navysafe Posted November 22, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2021 Just got back this morning from a 4 day cruise on Carnival Breeze: One stop in Cozumel and it rained ha. Positives: I like the facial recognition, makes it really easy to depart. Casino:)) Steakhouse Dinner. Negatives: 100% capacity....the crowds, kids and lines, lines and lines are back. Not fun at all!!! Getting off the ship was a nightmare....tons of people stuck in over crowded and extremely hot stairwells, almost panic mode. I was on the breeze that returned 4 hours late and docked at 10 am .. because of the rescue at sea the night before ... if you think you waited a long time. We waited 4 hours in the theater. My butt hurt I sat so long hahahaha. First they said a hour late and it kept growing. Haloween cruise. I actually loved the ship so no big complaints. I heard the 4 day over the previous weekend was much more crowded...we left monday after the 4 day got back.

Brkintx Posted November 23, 2021 #8 Share Posted November 23, 2021 I find it interesting that I read so many varying experiences on the same cruise. The FB group I'm in for a sailing on the Breeze next week has comments from people who share a significantly differing opinion of the capacity / crowded-ness on this most recent cruise. Of course I have no way of validating anyone's comments from that cruise, so I'm just going next week with an open mind.

I can assure you they are not sailing at 100% capacity. There are lines but that’s because things are popular - burgers, comedy club, etc. Service was phenomenal and so was the food. I booked another cruise on the breeze in February because of such a great experience earlier this month.
navysafe Posted November 24, 2021 Author #12 Share Posted November 24, 2021 The service desk on the Breeze ship is the one that told me they were sailing at full capacity. Other then that I have no proof.

At the minimum they are going to have blocks of rooms reserved for possible Covid cases. Edited November 24, 2021 by staceyglow

I was on an Alaskan cruise this past summer and there is something to be said about cruising on a ship at less than half capacity. ; ) Happy Thanksgiving. Brkintx Posted November 24, 2021 #16 Share Posted November 24, 2021 More than a dozen people on that same FB group are reporting they have secured an upgraded room from their reserved classification in the past week, and the sailing is still showing sold out (no back-fill). I’m also guessing “capacity” meant prescribed cap rather than full, as the required C19 quarantine rooms would not be available for sale. That said, everyone has a different experience… To some, a moving queue is “a line”, and to others “a line” indicates stagnation and or prolonged waiting. I find all the different opinions / perspectives interesting. As a rather inexperienced cruiser (next week is #4), I’ve not really dealt with lines that caused me to wait. #1 was a weekender on the Valor in Jan2020 (boat was no where near full), and the other two were during C19 recovery with capacities and children had to have an exception granted (both were before kids could be vaccinated). So I’m curious to see how I perceive things next week.

Other then that I have no proof. Even before COVID, they'd be very coy about their capacity and say they were full when in fact, they were not. We were on an Imagination cruise (r.i.p.) years ago and during the Behind the Fun tour, the chef de cuisine told us that they'd normally spend about $220,000 on food for a cruise of our duration, but then he let slip that since we were only at about 70% capacity, they'd allocated about $160k. The guy next to me gasped and whispered "I tried to upgrade our room at the pier, and I told them I'd be happy to pay for it, but they told me they were full!" 😮 The lines WERE nice and short on that cruise, too. ❤️
Rare JanR Posted December 8, 2021 #18 Share Posted December 8, 2021 Cruise capacity is a measure of when all cabins are occupied by 2 people. The Carnival Breeze has 1845 cabins, so their official "capacity" is 3690. However, that does not include rooms that may have children and other guests that bring occupancy of rooms to 3-4 per room. Therefore, I believe that the maximum number of passengers on the Carnival Breeze is something like 4700 passengers. So, the OP's probably right that the ship was at 100% capacity...but was not carrying the maximum number of passengers that the ship can hold. Our Thanksgiving cruise a few weeks ago fit that description exactly. About 3600+ passengers according to crew-members we queried. And yes, there were areas that were rather full--but not everywhere on the ship..
