Rpeter Posted December 27, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2021 Next December we are thinking about taking a Panama Canal cruise departing Port Canaveral and arriving in Los Angeles. Then about 3 weeks later we would board the same ship in Los Angeles and take it via the Panama Canal to Miami. Would this be a violation of the PVSA? tallnthensome Posted December 27, 2021 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2021 No, why would you think so?
Rare shof515 Posted December 27, 2021 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2021 (edited) its only a problem if you were to do a back to back cruise. with a few gaps between sailings, you are fine there is no violation Edited December 27, 2021 by shof515
Rpeter Posted December 27, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted December 27, 2021 With the gap in between the cruises I was hoping it would be okay as it would not be considered a back to back. Thank you.
Rare Rob_H Posted December 27, 2021 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2021 Panama cruises call at Cartagena, Colombia, or the ABC islands. These are all in South America, so it makes no difference if you have one cruise or a series of back to back cruises, each cruise visits a distant port so can travel between any US ports.

I thought it regulated the cruise line. What am I missing?
don't-use-real-name Posted December 28, 2021 #10 Share Posted December 28, 2021 Two separate cruises. You have a -3- week break between cruises. Back-To-Back only in the way you are creating it in your minds eye. All port and PVSA requirements met either direction. Florida-California-Florida Panama Canal cruises are usually 14 days in length - With the -3- week break you would not be ordinarily taking the same ship - - - This unless a strange ship positioning cruise. What was the proposed cruise line - ship and date of sailing(s) ?
