I just received this From the US Consulate via the STEP program:

Little unclear if this is ALL US Travelers or only those arriving by air - best to check - https://nl.usembassy.gov/:

Health Alert – Update Regarding COVID-19

U.S. Consulate General Amsterdam, The Netherlands

December 29, 2021

Location:  The Netherlands

Event:  Effective December 30, 2021, the Dutch government will classify the United States as an area of “very high risk” for COVID-19.  In addition to proof of vaccination or recovery and a negative test result, anyone arriving in the Netherlands from the United States will be required to present a completed quarantine declaration and self-quarantine for 10 days (unless a negative test result is received on day 5).

With limited exceptions available here, the quarantine requirement applies to all air passengers aged 12 or older boarding a flight in the United States (or any other “very high risk” country) bound for the Netherlands.  For the most up-to-date information, see Coronavirus COVID-19 | Travelling to the Netherlands from abroad | Self-quarantine on arrival in NL.

The title of your thread could be a little misleading - the requirement relates to travellers coming from the US, not US travellers (ie it relates to country of departure and/or recent visit, not nationality). The UK has been subject to this requirement for some time.

Mode of travel is irrelevant:  “The mandatory quarantine requirement applies regardless of how travellers enter the country; be it by air, train, bus/coach or car.”  Source: https://www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-19/visiting-the-netherlands-from-abroad/self-quarantine/mandatory-quarantine

Any update on this? We're arriving in June for a week of travel before our cruise.

We are Americans and have a twice-postponed river cruise out of Amsterdam in April, so it's something we are obviously concerned about.   There are various resources on the Internet we all should keep checking, as well as registering with STEP if you haven't done so already.  The Netherlands is still in a partial lockdown; I believe the government will be revisiting the rules this coming week.

We're in the same boat, also required to quarantine for 10 days with the possibility to have a PCR test on day 5 when we return from the States under the current rules for a March cruise. But, on a positive note; the current rules were a reaction to the immense surge in infections in the US past Dec/Jan labeling the US as high risk and now the curve is already bending I expect less strict rules within a few weeks/in Feb.

This won't be up for months, I would not worry about June or September because of this current set of rules.

Starting February 2, 2022 those who have received a booster shot no longer have to quarantine upon arrival from a Very High Risk country.

Thanks for posting that.  Here's a news article for anyone interested in reading it:

This is just what I’ve been looking for- thanks for the update. We’re both boosted and really looking forward to our cruise in late June.
