In quarantine on Equinox. Ask me anything. I’m bored.

Felt a little off on the night of the 30th when we went to bed. Woke up yesterday morning feeling like I did a day after my second Covid shot (and the same after the booster).

Called Med Services and they came to the room to test me.  I was positive and my wife was negative.

Lots of delays until I was put in quarantine today.  I’m in a deck 6 balcony room and just met my covid-y neighbors. My wife stayed in our room in hopes of not being positive for our return home (driving, luckily).

as Morpheus has said, we just were denied entry to Nassau.

Seems that they are trying to make it as best as possible. Gave us internet and movie channels. We can order anything from any menu, not just the basic room service menu.

I’ve got the drink package and they’ve brought anything I’ve asked for so far. As thinking of pushing it and asking for an Old Fashioned from the World Class Bar, but it won’t taste very good in a paper cup.

Hi, I read elsewhere from someone cruising on Constellation that Celebrity has implemented a new mask policy.  Have they?

More importantly hoping you are feeling okay and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Yes, but loosely followed. Yesterday they said mask need to be worn at all times except while outdoors or actively eating/drinking.

After 9 days of no masks, seems many people don’t want to put them on. My wife went to the grab a to-go wine (she’s had 2 negative tests) and said she saw many people walking around without them.

I’m ok, thank you. I’ve got the top 4 or so symptoms, but not feeling terrible. I would’ve bought it was a sinus infection, but it just felt so familiar to the booster shot side effects that I was pretty certain what it was.

Omg!!!  How are you’re covidy counterparts?  Are you all in good spirits?  Anyone feeling pretty sick?

My neighbors and I shared a beer and Covid stories, so I’d say we’re about the same. Med services didn’t give me a lot of info and I didn’t expect them to.

How do you communicate with the covidy neighbors? Can you talk across the balconies or are you actually allowed to visit each other since you all tested positive? Lucky you're at the end of the trip and able to drive yourself home! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Just standing on our balconies, like any other cruise, lol.

We’re not supposed to leave our rooms, of course.

The halls have a stick-down plastic on them so you can hear employees walking back and forth.

When they bring food, drink or luggage, they knock and run!

Pakerson,

sorry to hear you tested positive but am glad your symptoms are mild.

Out of curiosity, were you wearing a mask the first part of the cruise? DH and I are to board apex on January 8th and plan to wear a mask indoors.  We want to cruise but are a bit apprehensive.  I know masks are not 100 percent but is a little extra protection.

Feel better soon!

So sorry!  Sounds like you are feeling ok.  I hope your wife remains negative and your journey home is as uneventful as possible.

I'm happy to hear you are in a balcony room.  My husband and I are doing a B2B on the Apex in a couple of weeks and I've heard stories of positive passengers isolating in cabins on the 3rd floor with a sealed porthole.  I can get my mind around any "what if" scenario except being in a room with no fresh air for days.

We were not. We always follow masks rules, but went along with the no mask required rule this time.

up until the daily case-counts started rising, I’d say 90% were not either.

When you say you have the beverage package and they’ve brought you drinks…how exactly do you do this?  Call Room Service?  Ask for two glasses of wine at a time?  Alcohol and a balcony are all that could get me through quarantine…

Yep. Dial 51 and order away. The first time, I asked if I could get a bottle of Sierra Nevada. She said “how many bottles would you like”. I told her two and 4 arrived. When dinner came there were 2 more that I didn’t want so I called for a cup-o-wine (everything is paper). There are some glasses in the room, so I just transferred. Didn’t find the glasses in the bathroom cupboard until a few minutes ago.

@Parkersondo you have an idea how many passengers are now quarantined on your ship?

There was a report from  the Royal Caribbean forum that Harmony of the Seas has three decks now filled with quarantined passengers, and that over 100 crew have been offloaded presumably due to positive test.

I hope the magnitude of the problem on the Equinox is nothing like that.

I am so sorry to hear this happened.  I am so glad you got put in a room with a balcony for fresh air and  can just drive home.  What "top 4" symptoms do you have?  I am just curious if the Omicron are the same symptoms as Delta...especially the loss of smell and/or taste.  Did they have a back way that they transported you to your room?  Any information about how and when you will be removed from the ship? How many others are nearby for quarantine if you can tell?  Did they interview you to determine when and how you were exposed and to try and do contact tracing?

Do you know how many positive? I saw a tweet on Twitter that it was 300 but other threads report 20. We are on Monday and hoping it happens!

Each day, the captain would announce how many new cases there were. The last count, I believe, was 22. (He did not give total numbers, but we were keepin count). But that was several days ago and they quit giving numbers. Based on my Med Services visit, seeing and hearing what was going on, I’d say it’s quite a bit higher.

that’s passengers only though. No telling how many crew are in isolation.

I am so sorry to hear that.  I hope you feel better soon!  If you are up to it can you upload some pictures of the meals they are sending that you ordered?  It sounds like (expected I guess) Celebrity is treating people test positive better than NCL and with better food choices too!  Hope you get well soon!

I am also in isolation on the Equinox.  My husband was also tested and he was negative.  I had a slight cough and nothing else.  I have been here since late on 1/30.  There must be a lot of people using room service as it takes forever to get through.  I also have a balcony room.  We did wear masks unless we were eating or drinking.  I am hoping I get more information regarding disembarkation tomorrow.  Luckily we also drove but we were supposed to transfer to the Apex for another 12 days of cruising, but I canceled those cruises yesterday.

How many people do you think are quarantined? What medically are they doing for you?

No idea.

The Dr gave me over the counter stuff. Antihistamine, decongestant, Tylenol….all of which I had already.
