judatt Posted January 12, 2022 #51 Share Posted January 12, 2022 It’s now 10 pm ship time and the bells just rang and the captain came on to announce that the authorities in St Croix contacted the ship and said they had changed their protocols and we would not be able to come to that island tomorrow. Instead we were going to St Marten. There have been no announcement of cases on board and the captain clearly said it wasn’t us but rather a change in the protocols for St Croix. So, our first change and first missed port but I find it incredibly positive that in the space of what apparently was just minutes the captain and crew were able to take lemons and make lemonade. We’ve been to st Croix a few times and we’ve been to st marten a few times. Maybe we’ll make an unexpected trip to the nude beach 😎 2
SharonK Posted January 12, 2022 #52 Share Posted January 12, 2022 Thanks so much for all the information. We are booked on the January 30 sailing on Equinox. We are on the fence as to whether we are going or not but reading this thread is encouraging us toward going.

Now that almost everyone has beverage packages, it seems to be mobbed in the morning. I literally had trouble finding a seat. Finally remembered that the Captains Club still has a lounge in the Tuscan Grill in the morning escaped there. Much nicer! Thank you so much for reminding me about this. We never used to go to the CC continental breakfast but with the AI changing the cafe al baccio situation, that alternative for a nice morning drink (and great views) will be invaluable. Had you not mentioned it, I’d have never thought of going there and probably just ended up getting my coffee at a weird time so as to avoid the crowd. Treasure Hunter Posted January 12, 2022 #57 Share Posted January 12, 2022 This morning we are sailing into St. Croix ( US) all excursions are proceeding as planned. We will be on the retreat sun deck, Luminae is closed for lunch but the deck serves burgers, chicken sandwiches salad etc, having a great time. Easy to get on the best machines in the casino and they are paying. Weather gorgeous. So far so good🤞🏻🙏
Treasure Hunter Posted January 12, 2022 #58 Share Posted January 12, 2022 Just found out we are not going to St Croix but steaming straight to St Martin instead. We will arrive at 9:30 am ( we’re supposed to dock at 8:00. People with excursions have already changed them. Another reason to book through to ship. Treasure Hunter Posted January 12, 2022 #59 Share Posted January 12, 2022 You can explore independently in St Martin. You just need to take ID and your vaccination card ( and Cruise card). We are docked next to the Harmony of the Seas and P&O Britainica .
Rare JamieLogical Posted January 12, 2022 #60 Share Posted January 12, 2022 (edited) When I was on a B2B on the Summit in November, I was able to get a sense of how many passengers were going to be on the second leg by talking to crew members on the first leg. Is it possible for any of you sailing now to get an estimate from the crew about how many passengers are scheduled to sail on the 21st? Hopefully in the range of 1200-1600 guests like this cruise. I know there will be 2 less because our friends are canceling but have not done so yet. My last cruise back in December... each morning I would get up early and walk 2 miles (to avoid cruise weight gain).. and then I would stop by the Ocean view... our wine steward was there and by the second day he would know to get my my OJ and cappuccino ... as if I had been doing this for years. Nice thing too was with the ship less than half full.. I was one of the only people walking. As a side note... I have an apple watch and the first day the watch told me I had done nearly 14 miles... so I had to make sure to count laps 🙂 . One day pulling into St Lucia... I was walking and the map looked like a drunks path..

They said the bookings were almost the same as this cruise. 2200 "booked", 1800 "confirmed" how many will show up ??? On this cruise with the same "booked" and "confirmed" number the actual people aboard is between 1100 and 1200 depending upon which staff member you ask. Apparently airline cancellations also played a big part in the low numbers.
wattsde Posted January 12, 2022 #69 Share Posted January 12, 2022 (edited) Just a random observation. At the buffet now you are not allowed to serve yourself and there are no longer trays provided. The servers fill a plate with your requested food and you can only have at one time what you can manage to carry in two hands. If you want more, you need to return to the buffet for additional items. The wonderful consequence of this is that I see significantly less food waste on this cruise than previous ones. Before I would see people load up trays with 6-8 items and the only eat two of them. Now (1) the servings provided by the staff are more reasonable and (2) the lack of trays makes "piling on" impossible. I hope this trend continues! kearney Posted January 12, 2022 #75 Share Posted January 12, 2022 I know this is a small thing... but what I really liked about Celebrity vs Royal...was their use of nicer plates and glassware. If I recall correctly, in the Windjammer they had plastic mugs for coffee vs X's ceramic.. and again..going from memory... the plates were also plastic vs ceramic (I am a bit foggier on that)... but for me the Riedel glassware in the dining room..is the best. Nothing like drinking out of a nice glass with a sharp edge... especially wine.. Probably just me..but one of the things that makes Celebrity a bit more special
