DeeCT Posted January 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2022 Just wondering what the main difference is between regular suites and the Haven Suites on the Pearl? Thanks!!

Thanks!! Which suites, specifically, are you asking about? There are some that are identical in each place (in the Haven/not in the Haven), and there are some that are unique. So if you could give us the category, suite label/name, and perhaps even some suite numbers you are trying to compare, that would help. In some cases, such as the 2BR suites, the suites themselves are identical. But the Haven 2BR suite is "in" the Haven section and thus has access to the Haven Courtyard & services, and to the haven sundeck, etc. At this time, as I understand it, both of them have Butler service. There are a very few "Haven" suites on the Pearl that are not actually "in" the Haven section, but the passengers in those still have access to the Haven Courtyard and sundeck. NOTE: There have been a few changes to some suites/cabins (such as removing the tub from the 2BR suite's main bathroom), and there is no appropriate photos or floor plans on the NCL website yet. [Yup, passengers are and have been sailing/living in them, but NCL apparently is still "working on" figuring out what it all looks like. 😱 That is absurd, of course. They assure us that they'll be posting updated photo/floorplans "soon"; and they KEEP making that "assurance"... I wonder if they are trying to hide the removal of some special features?? ] GC
DeeCT Posted January 27, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted January 27, 2022 I was wondering about the forward and aft penthouses, and the 2 bedroom suite. I see they have a 2bedroom suite and a 2bedroom Haven suite.. so do all the suites have access to the Haven perks then? I hope I'm making sense lol

The 10 2BR suites deck 11 are the same as the 8 2BR Haven deck 14 in basic size dimensions and features You may have confused all suites haven or not having access to breakfast and lunch at Moderno/Cagney's. I hope I'm making sense lol No. As I mentioned above, only the HAVEN suites have access to the Haven. That's why the "name" of the suite or the category is important. The category would also indicate if it is a "Haven 2BR suite" or just a "2BR suite". I don't know if the newer NCL ships have similar suites where some are and some are not "Haven", but the Jewel class ships are like that for some of the suites. DeeCT Posted January 27, 2022 Author #7 Share Posted January 27, 2022 Thank you for the clarification!!! I have only sailed in Suites thus far, and In The Haven only once. Now to figure out if the price for the Haven is worth it for this cruise
don't-use-real-name Posted January 27, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2022 Clue to look for is the class title of the suite - H - Haven S - Suite The numbers following - the smaller the number the higher class and fare

Now to figure out if the price for the Haven is worth it for this cruise On the Jewel, the Haven does not have a Haven restaurant, and the Haven Courtyard is fairly small. On the other hand, there aren't all that many people in the Haven. For some people, that wouldn't be "enough of a Haven" experience. For us, on the Pearl, the Haven is a quiet, peaceful ... well... haven from what can be a somewhat crowded noisy ship, especially at holiday time. It's a pretty expensive way to get some extra peace and quiet. We started sailing on Oceania, where we can get a very nice suite for a similar price (approximately), and the entire ship is quiet and peaceful. But we ordinarily do not want most of the "bells and whistles" of the larger ships. Assuming we can sail again in a year or two, we'll be on a Jewel class ship again, but because we'll be taking our kids and grands with us. They, especially the grands, will definitely enjoy the extras that the NCL ships have. And we (the two of us) will still be able to relax in the Haven. Win/win. Now to figure out if the price for the Haven is worth it for this cruise If your previous experience in the Haven was on one of the larger ships, the Haven on the Pearl is no comparison. There is no Haven restaurant on the Pearl (or any Jewel-class ship.) The Courtyard is extremely small and not very impressive. Suite guests on the Pearl get all of the same benefits as Haven guests (Butler, Concierge, private dining for breakfast and lunch with Haven guests, etc.) for a significantly lower price. I cruise exclusively in the Haven on the bigger ships and wouldn't book the Haven on Jewel-class. (As a suite guest you will be invited to the Captain's cocktail party in the Haven, so you will get to visit.) Now the Garden Villa is a different story entirely. 😁

I was in the Haven on the Breakaway, and that was fantastic, due to it being a Florida and Bahamas trip that we mainly stayed on board due to not digging the ports. Thanks everyone for your help!
Rare Sailing12Away Posted January 28, 2022 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Our first experience in Haven was on the Jade. Night and day comparison to our next trip on the Epic. The smaller jewel class ships are just not the same in my eyes and not worth the upgrade cost from a regular suite to the "Haven" designation. The bigger ships... well, that's a different story. Separate bar, separate lounge, separate full restaurant... for us, it's worth it if we find extra money in the couch cushions. But the only way we'll be in Haven on the smaller ships is if we win an upgrade bid at a discount.
kismet618 Posted February 2, 2022 #13 Share Posted February 2, 2022 We are going to be in a Deck 10 Aft Balcony Suite w/Large Balcony on the 2/16 cruise from Miami. This suite was actually cheaper last minute than the Aft Balcony believe it or not. I did want to clarify suite perks on the Pearl: Since there is a Haven on the ship, do the non-Haven suites still receive the same Breakfast/Lunch in Moderno/Cagney's? and the same Butler and Concierge service? I had thought those suite perks were only on Jewel class ships that did not have a Haven on board. If this was covered recently, I wasn't able to find the thread. Thanks All four Jewel class ships have a Haven. Yes, non Haven suites (true suites not club balcony suites) on Jewel class ships will have breakfast and lunch in Moderno or Cagney's and butler/concierge service. Saw this posted in this thread and am looking for confirmation: Does this still hold true? Are there any differences in services provided from butlers/concierge etc? Thank you for any info you might be able to provide. This site has been a wealth of information already!
Shellbelle28 Posted March 2, 2022 #16 Share Posted March 2, 2022 We have sailed in the Aft Penthouse Suites on the Jewel and the Pearl, and I really, really (really!) love them. Because the "Haven" is primarily the pool and the sundeck on the Jewel class, and that's not something we particularly care about, I didn't mind at all being outside of the enclave. Breakfast and lunch were in the Moderno restaurant for everyone Haven and Suites, so we didn't miss anything there. The concierge set up at a desk in the Moderno bar area every day, so we saw them easily. On our Australia/New Zealand itinerary, suite guests were escorted to the haven sundeck for viewing on the day we cruised the Fiordlands and to the pool area for the captain's reception. Our butler was fully accessible. All in all, very nice. We had an aft suite on the Bliss and our keys worked to enter the Haven area, so that was the main difference. mkondrad Posted May 31, 2023 #17 Share Posted May 31, 2023 My first Haven cruise was on the Breakaway and it was wonderful. We loved the private restaurant, bar and lounge. We had priority boarding and disembarkation, where we entered through a separate entrance right into ticketing, then waited in a lounge with coffee and snacks until the doors officially opened. The Haven concierge got us into the shows before the doors opened for everyone else, and also we were first off the ship for shore excursions. We are booked in the Haven on the Pearl for next September (2024). Based on comments that say the suites are basically the same, and before I look to downgrade to a suite, 1) Do Haven guests get the same VIP treatment on the Pearl, and 2) Do the suite guests get the same priority boarding experience and early access to seating at the shows? The Haven is significantly more expensive and not having the restaurant and lounge is disappointing. Also, on the Breakaway, we had a king-size bed in the Courtyard Penthouse, but on the Pearl it is a queen-sized bed.
goldmom Posted May 31, 2023 #18 Share Posted May 31, 2023 I can answer some of your questions. Both Haven Suites and Non-Haven Suites receive the VIP treatment. Special embarkation area, escort on and off ship, priority tender, private restaurant for breakfast and lunch, Butler & Concierge. The main difference between the 2 classes of suites is access to the small Haven Courtyard area and Sundeck. On the Jewel class ships you don't really get an early escort into shows. Generally there is no problems getting seats for the shows. There is a special seating area in the theater, but I don't remember if it's only for Haven or for all suite guests. It's on the side of the balcony area so not really the best seats anyway. As far as the bed, we have found that it usually feels bigger than a queen. Maybe like an oversized queen. Lol! We really like the non-haven 2 bedrooms suites even just for the 2 of us. They are the same footprint as the 2 bedroom haven suites without the huge price tag. Whatever you decide, enjoy!
jimsig Posted May 31, 2023 #19 Share Posted May 31, 2023 We sailed in the 2br family suite (non Haven) to Alaska in 2016. There is a link to my trip report below in my signature and included are pictures and a video of the suite. Other then the suites no longer having names and the bathtub no longer being there it should give you an good idea of what the non Haven 2br fam suite looks like.
old nutter Posted May 31, 2023 #20 Share Posted May 31, 2023 There is a special bonus on the Jewel ships if you choose the suites on the opposite side to the upstairs sundeck. If something is happening over on the port side (especially if docked) and you are in one of the starboard suites, it is very easy to just pop up the stairs out of the main Haven and see over the port side rails. There are also times when the ship is under way and passing some interesting site when this can be useful as well. Not a fantastic bonus, but just another tick in the box to get the most for your money. We have always booked the starboard 2BR suites. The outside access from that upstairs Haven sundeck on the Jewel ships is a major bonus though - big open area with bags of space and special butler service for drinks etc. Also, although there is no Haven restaurant, you can get lunch served in the Haven area by the Haven butler. It all depends on how you use the facilities that governs the value you put on the uplift between Haven and non-Haven suites whether you think it is worth it. That extra and normally peaceful space with the sliding roof really makes a difference if you spend a lot of time on the ship. The Jewel Haven area really does expand your own personal space feeling that you do not seem to get on the big ships.
