What side of ship for balcony

One of the reason it doesn't matter is that you should be outside toward the front of the ship so that you can see everything going on.

With that said most captains try to turn the ship so that both sides have a view.  But a negative to being on the side of the ship is that one might miss a glacier calving if you are on the side not facing the glacier.

The advantage of staying in-cabin and seeing the glaciers is of course no crowds -

BUT you will see a great deal more by going to one of the top decks of your ship

(do this in advance to find the best places for photo opts selfies etc.).

If the weather is downright miserable (rain or shine) perhaps the sheltered Promenade deck

may offer some respite but not much more than your cabin balcony.

Visits to the glaciers in the morning hours may be met with fog mist and low overcast skies.

Later in the day all this may have blown over and burned off.

Make the most of what is offered and available unless you are planning on a return or

back-to-back voyage

Actually, I do not see any glaciers on your itinerary.

If a glacier was included, it would list Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, etc. You may consider changing itineraries. Could the itinerary be missing something? When we have viewed glaciers, the Captain does a 360 and all get great viewing. We also walk around the ship while sipping on very hot beverages.
