Roatan Port Excursion Required

For those stopping in Roatan, Celebrity is requiring a shore excursion through the cruise line to be allowed off of the ship. 

No independent tours allowed or getting off the ship to wander around the port.

We booked Maya Key on Roatan (ship tour). Had a fabulous time

We were just is Roatan off the Edge and had the same restriction.  For a relaxing beach day we did the Little French Key excursion and were very happy with it.

I just got off the Carnival Mardi Gras last week and we were able to disembark without a tour. We booked an excursion with a outside company and had to meet the tour guide outside the port area.

This week Celebrity is saying it is a red port for them so we need to take their excursions which so happened to be double the price.

Lots of discussions about shore excursions.   Am a bit mystified as the port rules for excursions are changing daily .  No possible way to accurately plan today.
