Rare Rogueperson Posted March 12, 2022 Author #228 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Walking down deck 4 from the MDR to the Orpheus, i noticed a nasty sewage smell. I do not know how badly it permeates the rooms. I noticed it the last time walking down here. I believe it didn’t matter which side. FYI
Rare Rogueperson Posted March 12, 2022 Author #229 Share Posted March 12, 2022 I was hungry. Lunch pretty much consisted of the food samples from our tour. They were delicious, but more or less a glorified snack. It was fortunate we went to breakfast in the MDR first. That was the first real disappointment of service all cruise for some reason. I asked for hot water for our coffee but this day, they took forever to get it. I asked for a second cup for a second cup of water but that took even longer. We had to cancel it because had to get off the ship to meet our tour. Breakfast took over an hour. Its usually not this slow. Anyways, I digress. Here is tonight’s dinner menu. Hickory smoked wings. This was not bad overall, but i’ve been going through this Korean chicken wing phase. (maybe its a phase). Compared to that, these wings really pale in comparison. Ratatouille and goat cheese tart. This was ok. Tender Beef duo. I’m noticing that i’m ordering a lot of beef. At the same time, I’m also noticing a lack of chicken dishes. I don’t believe i’ve noticed a lot of them this cruise so far. Warm Berry Crumble Rum Bara
Rare Rogueperson Posted March 12, 2022 Author #230 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Tonight’s headliner. Manny Zuniga, Juggler Extrordinaire. He was a good performer. However, I didn’t think he was a great performer. He’s skilled and talented and funny, but i think you can only go so far with juggling. I remember another juggler on Grandeur i think where he balanced on a normal ladder and juggled knives at tge same time. On a pitching ship, that was impressive. I’m also starting to see that Jugglers are a thing with Royal Caribbean for some reason.
Rare Rogueperson Posted March 12, 2022 Author #231 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Today wiped me out. I’m done. Plus Barbados is a 7:30-3:30 day. Kinda short. Even though our excursion isn’t until 11:45, i think i’m done Day 8 cruise compass.
Rare FionaMG Posted March 12, 2022 #232 Share Posted March 12, 2022 We did Cosol's tour in St. Lucia in December 2017 when we were on Serenade for our 30th and DH still talks about it; says it was one of the best excursions he's done. We got got in a torrential downpour on the way back to the ship that made those hairpin bends even hairier. Enjoy your day in Barbados. Our Serenade cruise stopped there too and it was lovely. Rare Rogueperson Posted March 12, 2022 Author #233 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Good morning from Bridgetown, Barbados. Looks like a busy day at port. Here with us is Oceania Marina, P&O Brittania, Seaborne Odyssey and Royal Clipper. Windstar is behind us, but not visible from my balcony.
Rare Rogueperson Posted March 12, 2022 Author #234 Share Posted March 12, 2022 (edited) Well, my coffee adventure continues. You may or may not know, i am not a fan of the Windjammer or any buffet. Fortunately, since we have a later tour, we slept in. Last night was the first good night sleep i had all cruise. Its the Diamond benefits. I may have to get just non alcoholic stuff from here on out. Anyways, back to the Windjammer. As i told you earlier, the Windjammer cups are slightly too small for the filter cap on the aeropress but i realize that its just the cap. I could still press the coffee into cup, it just sits on top of cup instead of in it. What the windjammer doesn’t have, those little pots for hot water that the MDR has. No problem, i’ll just get a mug of hot water. Well, to my dismay, they don’t pour nearly as well as those pots. My wife is giving me this look of “why do you keep making a mess” And when i went to make my second cup, i almost spilt my coffee beans onto the table and saved it at the last second. My wife gives me that look again… Edited March 12, 2022 by Rogueperson
Rare Rogueperson Posted March 12, 2022 Author #235 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Today’s adventure is Royal Caribbean’s Mount Gay Rum Tour and scenic drive. This tour was way better than the one on St. Croix. There was more info about rum making. This distillery has been around since 1703 and its the worlds oldest commercial distillery. So they say. Here are some pics of the distillery. as well as some shots of the island. While on our brief stop at this small beach, there were some divers coming up. Apparently one caught this while swimming. Its a Nurse Shark so it was kind of harmless so…

Rare Rogueperson Posted March 12, 2022 Author #238 Share Posted March 12, 2022 (edited) Woah, we were the last ones back on board. We had a late tour but we stopped to get a snack at one of the bars at port. We had 45 minutes before all aboard time. Got to try their conch fritters and fish cakes which is supposedly local dish. It was pretty good. Didn’t get a picture, but it just looked like fried balls of stuff. We kept an eye on the time. Here, apparently you have to take a bus to the terminal. Kind of like a land tender 😂. So we were a little anxious because we didn’t want to miss final boarding. We were sitting on the bus by ourselves. But apparently, they wanted to make sure we were the final ones. We were, at least thats what they told us. Finally when the Royal app quit working for everybody, only then did the cabin steward put a Compass in our stateroom at night.

Rare Rogueperson Posted March 13, 2022 Author #245 Share Posted March 13, 2022 Well now… I actually did not need a nap today. Its amazing what a good night sleep did. So I made it to the early show. Both my wife and I did. She left early. I wished I did. Mark Merchant is his name. This photo is all i need to post. Really, what is the point of this. I’m not easily offended, but you do not need an asian themed dummy named Wing Tip shoes. His comedy was at best slightly humorous but at worst, plain offensive. Bad range here. Easily the worst show i’ve ever seen on Royal.

LOL...this is definitely the guy we saw on the Grandeur also - could have been on lots of different sailings of course but being that you mentioned the pretty extensive motion that the ship was experiencing during the show, I suspect we were there also. Edit: DH just corrected me and said we went to the (former) distillery which is now a warehouse/distribution place. We also went to Banks brewery, that was the real brewery. Never mind. DELTABLUE Posted March 13, 2022 #249 Share Posted March 13, 2022 Another performer who works the ships doing an expanded juggling show is Rick Novel. First saw him years ago working around outside at Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Have since seen him on Baltimore ships juggling all sorts of things (sharp, dull and edible) on the ground, on a ladder and on a unicycle. As hard as it is to do, it is SO much harder to do when the floor is pitching and moving under you. BTW...I have a great unicycle story if you ever run into me. Just remember to ask and I'll be happy to share.
