Rogueperson's **Live** Enchantment of the Seas 3/5/2022

Recommended Posts

As we left St. Kitts, I can’t help feel a little sad that i’m on the last leg of this journey.  True, there are still 3 full days till we get back Baltimore, but still, feels kind of like its ending.  There was not much going on tonight that caught my eye.  I felt kind of blah so we just went back to the room.

Here is tomorrow’s cruise compass.A329C870-063F-4997-ADA9-4C4B9F93BD3D.thumb.jpeg.d4eaa2e14941ae1fcb559103aea0d130.jpeg

It just took a while, but i figured out how to get my position easily now.  Google earth for the win.

Hansen...while looking for something else, I came across some cruise notes I had online that I had forgotten about.  The first cruise there was Enchantment 12-2/9-2001.  One of the performers was Rick Schnitker, now known as Rick Novell!  The first cruise we did with him was on Celebrity Horizon.  So there you have it.

Thanks, I have a 13 day coming up next month, ready to pack...lol

If you look at some faqs on Royal.  They say 11-14 night cruises have 3.  So I was surprised we only have 2.

Celebrity Horizon?  I had to look that up.  My first Celebrity cruise was 2003 on Celebrity Galaxy when she was in Baltimore.

Today’s been a fairly lazy day.  Three days at sea feel great after the 5 back to back ports.

This morning, we actually had no issues with coffee.  After breakfast, there was a lecture on Caribbean Rum.  Pretty interesting stuff.  She said that back then, Rum was such an important commodity for trade that it did not get dethroned until oil came about.

Tonight I have for you, Chef’s Table.  My wife and I do it on every cruise.  My wife already previewed the menu, and I believe its the same one unfortunately.  I’ll still post it here, but those who have followed me on my previous live threads may find it familiar.

Horizon was out of Ft. Lauderdale.  I did do Mercury out of Baltimore, in the snowmageddon winter of 2010.

I didn’t know Mercury was in Baltimore.  I was on Mercury in 2005 in Alaska.  It actually repositioned from Vancouver to Seattle.  I had  an adventure getting there.  That was pre-cellphone times.  At least for me.

That Mercury cruise was one frigid cruise!  Coldest I've ever been on a ship.  It was cold all the way down the coast.  It was freezing in Florida!  We saw sea smoke which was amazing. It was 58° in Key West and the highest temp we had was 70°, in Nassau.  Also along on that trip was Radio.

This is something I find hard to understand. You would think the chefs would given the freedom to create their own menus for chef's table, making the experience unique depending on the ship and the part of the world it is sailing in, as well as on the time of year, rather than having a corporate imposed fleetwide menu.

Anyway hopefully you will enjoy tonight's regardless.

Hello, how many formal nights did you have and on which nights?

When we sailed on 12-nighter in February, we had two formal (second sea day and first returning sea day) and then a Dress to Impress the following evening (sea day).

We've done several 11 and 12 night cruises and have never had 3, just 2.  First 11 or 12 night (can't remember what was first) we did I expected and packed for 3, but nope, only two and that was back in 2010.

I found both written somewhere. Conflicting information.

Made it back to my room.  I’m drunk again.  However, I’m proud of myself.  I left Chef’s Table and made it to the 70s party.  A8E69848-040C-4525-90A9-2BDC12703169.thumb.jpeg.620c6e4a48cae9778dd58ac6659a8623.jpeg

This is so CD dependent.  The show is scripted and planned, but a good CD can ride the wave while a bad one can stop it in its tracks using the same material.  Bobby rode the wave.  Kudos.

I will post more when i recover my faculties.

Our headwaiter on GR in April 2019 was an "escort" on our Coastal Cruise to the Pitons in St Lucia on a catamaran.  He said they send staff on excursions randomly to make sure the guests are getting what they paid for and that the excursion meets certain standards.   So, he got a free excursion and RCI got a review.

So happy the crew are getting perks like this. They so deserve it, and it keeps the third party excursions on their toes knowing there is company feedback

@Rogueperson thank you for this awesome report! I have been bouncing back and forth between you and @Radio reports and you both forced, forced me to book a last minute cruise on Anthem next week.

Thanks for all the effort I know it takes to do this and provide us landlubbers some much needed entertainment! Enjoy the sea days coming up!

We don't do Chef's Table.  The menu I've seen is so seafood heavy and I'm allergic to shrimp so I avoid all seafood and DH doesn't like it lol.   What did you think of it?

You can tell them that and they will make you your own special dishes. I got beef carpaccio instead of the scallops for instance.

The Good.  This dinner is always good.  We try to do it on every cruise.  The Enchantment has a great venue for it.  Its a private room next to the Main Dining Room.  They planned and made it sound proof so we did not hear the band playing nearby at the Centrum center unless they opened the door.

Bad.  Same menu as before.

Ugly.  First time with an issue.  My wife and I got the filet done exactly alike.  Blue.  Mine was delicious, my wife’s had no flavor?!?!?!  Weird.  Same cut of meat, same cooking method.  two different tastes.

Overall, it was a great time and would do it again.

Although the menu is the same, the chef puts their own spin on these dishes.
