mcclarke1 Posted March 28, 2022 Author #26 Share Posted March 28, 2022 We were on a Catamaran Snorkel and Sail this morning in Nassau. It was ok, but had some issues. Boat arrived late to meet us, then somehow gasoline leaked onto some of the passengers bags and clothes. Not sure how that happened. Music was played over a system from the captain’s phone and had to stop every time he received a call. Drinks were not easy available and the bathroom was a place I avoided. The ride out to snorkel was nice. I didn’t get in because I thought the water was too cold. The 18 year olds got in and had a fine time. 15 year old is not a big snorkel guy and prefers just boat rides and was happy. Our guide was funny and he pointed out some interesting sites. The weather was wonderful, as it’s usually raining in the Bahamas when we visit. After the excursion, the 18 year old boys and I went ashore for a little shopping for souvenirs. Once back on board, I got a Reuben panini from Edge Cafe and Pistachio ice cream from Scoops. Both as good as I remember and boys brought lots of food back to their room from the buffet and Mast Grill. Brian headed to the fitness center while I relaxed in a swing at the Retreat pool. Arrived just in time for kiwi sorbet. Time for a 30 minute walk on the track and arrived back to the room to a plate a fruit for an afternoon snack. Next post will be all about our evening.

Not sure where lines began to get food and the servers were not always around as they has tasks in the kitchen too. I'll keep that in mind and pick up somethings for breakfast. Sounds like a real disappointment. Really enjoying your posts and wonderful pictures. Edited March 28, 2022 by Jim_Iain
Rare StartrainDD Posted March 28, 2022 #28 Share Posted March 28, 2022 Sounds like the same 'snorkel and sail' we did in October. Sails were never raised and the snorkeling rather poor. Boat was late for us too! Never did find any beverages available on the outing... It only gets better from there! Have fun!

mcclarke1 Posted March 29, 2022 Author #31 Share Posted March 29, 2022 About last night….so much fun!! We began with a lovely dinner in Luminae. Several of us decided to start with the cheese plate listed on the dessert menu along with a shrimp cocktail. The amuse bouche was a very refreshing caprese salad bite. For the main course we chose the Alaskan halibut or the Potato Mezzuluna pasta. All were wonderful and I have photos below. We ended the dinner with the Chocolate Palet that arrived with a couple of gold sprinkles on top. Yum!! We were stuffed, but the night didn’t end there. Visited the casino after dinner where Brian played craps and I played video poker. Parker joined both of us to learn the games. Nothing like having your 18 year old argue with you on how to play a hand.😂 After the casino, Aidan and Chase met me at the theater to watch a show. The show was suppose to be Colors of Life, but was changed to Kaleidoscope due to technical difficulty. Lots of talent in this performance group. After the show, I convinced Aidan and Chase to try Silent Disco. At first, they weren’t sure they wanted to, but I finally talked them into trying it for 15 minutes. They both stayed the entire time and loved it!! Those two went back to their room at that point. Parker had decided to see Jason Blanchard’s late comedy show in the theater and I was able to catch the last 15 minutes with him. I’m usually in bed early, so it was a late night for me, but loads of fun and ready for more. Today is a sea day, so time for rest and relaxing at the retreat pool. I’ll post photos from the Celebrity Today for yesterday too. More to come.
mcclarke1 Posted March 30, 2022 Author #32 Share Posted March 30, 2022 It’s been a wonderful and relaxing day at sea! Began the day with breakfast in Luminae for just Brian and I. The boys ate breakfast at the buffet. Aidan set his alarm and got up early to record the sunrise, which I think is awesome! I probably had one of the best sleeps of my life last night with a gentle rocking of the boat. Also have ear plugs to tune out the ship moving noises. I know many people post the retreat deck is overcrowded. We haven’t felt that yet. I found a spot that I liked and was able to find more near us for the rest of our crew. Not long after we sat down, the fruit skewers were delivered. We headed to Le Grand Bistro for lunch. The main item we all wanted was the rack of lamb and it was delicious!! We also had lobster bisque and a cheese plate. Went for a walk on the pool deck walking path to make myself feel better about all the food and alcohol I’m consuming. Very hot day and I loved it!! We thought the Veuve Clicquot dinner was tonight. The Wine events listing had the date for today and it’s actually tomorrow night. Our Retreat host, Anastasiia is amazing and moved all our dining reservations around for the remainder of the trip to make the correct day work. Love her so much!! Dinner was at Le Petit Chef tonight and chilled pea soup is not my favorite, but was very happy with everything else. We brought our own wine tonight (from home) for the dinner and also started with a couple of glasses of Veuve Clicquot. Tomorrow is Costa Maya Mexico. We do not have an excursion planned and just hoping to walk around the port to shop, eat tacos and drink margaritas. Also posting the Celebrity Today for our day at sea. Goodnight!!

mcclarke1 Posted March 30, 2022 Author #35 Share Posted March 30, 2022 Patiently waiting to see if our docking in Costa Maya, Mexico happens today. Just heard from friends on the Norwegian Joy that their Costa Maya docking was unsuccessful this morning due to high winds.
mcclarke1 Posted March 30, 2022 Author #36 Share Posted March 30, 2022 It’s official, the Celebrity Edge is not docking in Costa Maya due to high winds and high seas. We will have another relaxing day at sea and look forward to the Veuve Clicquot dinner tonight.

mcclarke1 Posted March 31, 2022 Author #41 Share Posted March 31, 2022 Had a 2nd Day at Sea yesterday due to high winds and rough seas. We spent most of our time at the retreat deck, which I love! A little sad we didn’t get to dock, but we had great weather for a pool day. I ordered a couple of margaritas at the retreat deck since I couldn’t in Mexico. The boys and Brian had lunch at Oceanview Cafe and I went to Luminae by myself. I love the prawn ceviche and the butternut squash farfalle. I will also post the Celebrity Today for Costa Maya and the revised Celebrity Today that was sent to us after the port was cancelled. Dinner for us was the Veuve Clicquot dinner and we had a great time. Photos below. I forgot to get a photo of the scallop dish and it was probably my favorite. The boys had dinner at the Rooftop Garden Grill and Chase sent me a photo of his S’mores dessert that I will post. I was stuffed and sleepy after dinner, so I went to bed early while Brian visited the casino. Forgot to mention, we booked a new cruise with the Future Cruise desk for the end of June. It will be our 20th Anniversary and we will board the Summit to visit Bermuda!! We’ve never been to Bermuda. Looking forward to docking in Cozumel today. We have a private boat excursion through Celebrity today and I’ll let you know how it goes.
Piaa Posted March 31, 2022 #42 Share Posted March 31, 2022 Loving your trip report (we sail on the Edge starting this Sunday .. YAY) Have a question on the Veuve Cliquot dinner - were you able to pre-book this before boarding (I can't find anywhere to book online) or is this only something you can book once onboard ? Thanks so much and hope you are still having a fabulous sail

Ask a sommelier in Luminae or one of the other restaurants and they can book it for you. It was the first thing I did when we got on board. Have a great time! mcclarke1 Posted March 31, 2022 Author #44 Share Posted March 31, 2022 Just had a fantastic day in Cozumel! We decided to book a private excursion through Celebrity for today and it was the best decision! After room service for breakfast, we met the Celebrity Excursions team at the end of the pier and the boat picked us up at 9:45am. They offered us drinks and we talked about a plan for the day. Stopped for our first snorkel where we saw many, many fish and a grouper. On our way to the snorkel stop, we pulled around very close to the back of the Celebrity Reflection and she was docking. Next we sailed the coastline and headed to calm area to swim and eat lunch. Boy, did they prepare a feast! We had a huge selection of fruits, fish ceviche, quesadillas, guacamole with chips, buttered shrimp and sashimi. We all had a little nap in the sun after that meal. So good! Next, we went to snorkel a shipwreck. The sea was rough in this area and I was a little hesitant as it was away from shore, but glad I was brave and got in. Our guide said the shipwreck was 30-40 feet deep. The water was crystal clear. I think we could see every detail. The current was strong, but it was worth the fight. We also watched divers tour around the wreck. So cool!! Next, we cruised the coastline in the opposite direction and enjoyed some snacks before we got off the boat. Best stop I’ve ever had in Cozumel. I will post photos below. After boarding the Edge, I’ll went for a 30 minute walk on the track and now about to get ready for dinner in Eden and of course a stop at the Martini bar beforehand. This will be our first time dining at Eden.

cangelmd Posted April 1, 2022 #47 Share Posted April 1, 2022 Sorry, just found your post about the VC dinner. I also really liked the scallops, I wish that could go on the Luminae menu, the sauce was scrumptious, if I have a picture I will add it. We found Luminae to be unacceptably noisy and pretty crowded most of the time. Even breakfast on disembark day was very noisy, and it was hardly crowded at all by the time we got there (had a late flight, and only need for hurry was courtesy to the crew, so we were after first rush). mcclarke1 Posted April 2, 2022 Author #48 Share Posted April 2, 2022 Looks like I need catch up on my live review! Back to night 5 dinner at Eden. We weren’t sure we would like Eden, but we’re very pleasantly surprised. The Celebrity Edge Eden menu changed for the first time with this cruise. We were also so happy to see and catch up with Marko and Ivory in Eden! They were in Luminae when we cruised on the Edge for the first sailing out of the United States post Covid. Beautiful restaurant and we all enjoyed the food. We began the meal with a crab cake for an appetizer. For main course, I had the Corvina, Brian ordered the Filet and the others had the Truffle Celery Root Pappardelle Pasta and also the Salmon. The crab cake is one of the best I’ve had and we all enjoyed our entrees. There was some ship movement during this time and the restaurant is in the back of the ship, so Chase was feeling a little ill and headed back to the room early to sleep. For dessert, we had the Lemon Tart, Butterscotch Crème Brulee, and the chocolate dessert (I can’t remember the name.). Parker and I decided the Lemon Tart was our favorite. After dessert, they brought some mini sweets to the table. We were so stuffed, we asked them to pack them up and I devoured those for lunch the next day.😋 Parker still heads to the casino with Brian to watch craps, but hasn’t yet been ready to throw the dice himself. I will post the Celebrity Today for Cozumel below. Our next stop is in Grand Cayman.

Thanks! We haven’t noticed Luminae to be noisy or crowded. We have a group of 5 and have always been seated immediately. Our passenger count is just under 1,400. I hear the next cruise passenger count is a little over 2,000.

We have sailed on the Celebrity Reflection and Celebrity Equinox (January 2022). So far, I think I like the Celebrity Edge better, but there are things I miss about the other ships. Murano is the restaurant I miss the most. There are fewer suites on those ships, so Luminae and the Retreat areas will have less people. The retreat deck on the Equinox has not been refurbished to the level of other ships (no pool or hot tub) so that was disappointing. I LOVE the retreat deck on the Edge. Not sure about the Reflection. Last sailed her in 2016.
