Although, thankfully, the first part is mostly correct. I just copied the following section from the Viking health and safety program webpage:

 

Physical Distancing & Face Masks

Public health experts agree that proper physical distancing and the use of face masks are effective in helping slow the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses. Once guests receive a negative result from their embarkation PCR test, face masks are optional while moving about the ship. While ashore, guests will need to comply with any local guidelines for face masks and physical distancing. Face masks continue to be required for all crew.

I know this is a joke.  But what isn't a joke is that a negative test is still required to get back into the US. I'm not so sure that Viking would be doing anyone a favor by doing away with masks and distancing.  Wearing a mask isn't a big deal unless you make it so.

We have friends on a Princess TA who test positive at the end of their 16 day cruise and had to quarantine in England for 10 days.

Wow! Just heard from our friends - her husband tested positive and they need to stay in England even longer! We’re going to mask and social distance regardless of Viking’s policy.
