I don't understand the appeal of getting on the ship early.

Cheryl feels like you do. I'd get on as early as possible, Cheryl would prefer to be the last one onboard (so, we generally don't get on too early...)

I have to admit that I was disappointed with the new terminal for the MG

We love it.  We were on MG in December and March and were off the ship quickly both times, even with the facial recognition not working in December. Last month was the quickest we've ever gotten off any ship at any port.

The earlier we get on the ship, the earlier our vacation starts.  But when it's over, it's over.  No point in sitting around waiting until they kick us off. 🤣

For those driving means getting on the road early for long drives or having to be home to get their pet from the kennel as they are only open half days.

Some may have early flights.

Everyone amy have different reasons, but I get your point as well.

Unless my best option for flights home dictate that I need to be off the ship asap I just chill on the lido with plenty to eat and drink while the ship empties out. When the crowd is gone I walk off.

This is a great idea..get a 3 pm flight and walk off at 9ish

It is not so much that thre are problems, it is jst that it could have been so much more.  Imagine everyone going in different doors as you enter, so instead of times for 5500 and people sticking to those (posts here show how much they WILL NOT) and you are exposed to a 10th of the peope as part of the experience.  It DOES work that way on some of the other lines.
