Are ships from other lines experiencing these same problems?  I haven’t read that much which seems weird if they aren’t seeing an uptick in cases on board.

Because my next Europe/Baltic cruise in August is on Norwegian Dawn I have been monitoring the NCL boards. I have not seen any reports of people on NCL ships in Europe having an outbreak of covid onboard.

I had posted earlier that 3 of our group of 12 had tested positive shortly after disembarking from the Riviera in Barcelona. That number is now 8 of the 12. Our entire trivia team. We have people stranded in Barcelona and London, having flown to London because they had a negative test leaving the ship. Maybe those wooden pencils did allow the virus to spread. We did not do excursions. One took a cooking class. One took an art class. I do not believe the Covid protocol on the ship was adequate.  I love Oceania but I am miserable right now, suffering from Covid even though I am vaccinated and boostered. By the way, I never had to prove I was vaccinated or that I had tested negative in boarding the ship although I was both vaccinated and negative.

We were on your cruise. Also have the same thing to report. Out of 8 on our trivia team, 6 are very sick. One was left in Marseille hospital. We never had to show any proof of any vax in any ports, although we carried it with us everywhere.

What was your trivia teams name? Ours was the "A" team.

Maybe Countries lifting the restrictions have something to do with the uptick in cases

I know here  there is an increase in cases plus more hospitalizations

they recently lifted the mask requirement & you no longer have to show if you were vaccinated when dining in

Maybe the World is not ready to relax the mask  protocols 🤔

We are still wearing our masks in public places & it seems many others are as well

We wore NO masks on our recent 17 day cruise. We have not had covid but of course are fully vaxed. All our trivia teammates were/are sick. We came home on April 4. Some are still stranded in Barcelona, some in London. One was left in Marseille hosp and has since recovered.

Recently back from a Seabourn cruise (mid March), there were cases of Covid on that.I fell ill on the flight home.Tested negative that evening at home, next day I was positive. My husband did not get it!! The only time we didn’t wear a mask with others around was playing trivia.(supposedly you can’t get Covid sitting down🤣).We did not go to any shows, took one look in the gym and left, sat on our own table for food and used paper napkins to hold serving spoons in the buffet. No tours.

Have you tested since arriving home? Not unexpected for trivia team members to spread Covid since it's impossible to socially distance. Glad to know they're all recovering.

We know now that the reinfection rate with the Omicron variant is higher than other variants.

‘Vaccines have shown to degrade over time (hence the need for boosters).

As well, vaccines are not necessarily effective in preventing us from getting Covid but they are extremely effective in preventing us from getting a serious case of Covid (hospitalization and/or death).

Countries are moving to empowering citizens to be responsible for their own Covid responsibility. For these reasons we will probably see (as early as this summer) a removal of mandatory testing for entry to the US and for cruise travel from the US.

Here in Canada I am surprised at the number of people who still wear cloth masks or wear masks below their noses.

For clarification...we all had to prove that we had all the vaccinations and tests to O, in the terminal before boarding. Perhaps the poster means, that in ports NO one asked for any of the proof we were all carrying. All kinds of paperwork was required  and carried at all times. No one asked to see it.

Jonthomas,  Our team was the left brainers. We still have 2 members stranded in London and one in Barcelona. The one in Barcelona is asymptomatic but still testing positive. Trying to figure out how to get him home. We were all vaccinated and boostered and had tested negative before getting on ship.

Of course you were all vaxed and boostered and tested or you would not have gotten onto the ship. All the checking was done during registration. You had to show your passport and all your other paperwork. Maybe someone else showed it for you, but there is NO way, you could get onto the ship without showing all that. And prior to that, the day before, you had to show all that proof to the Bermuda govt to get the Authorization. Maybe someone else in your group did all that for you.

Yes the left brainers, you all did very well at trivia. It was a lot of fun playing.

Terrible how the cruise ended for all of you. And still trying to get home.

Isn’t that the scenario where you need days and a doctors certificate?  What a mess indeed!

Mandatory masks requirements on planes, airports, etc extended for another 15 days until 3 May. Another wait and see for after that.

On tv, over the weekend, Fauci was pushing for extending the ban through the summer. We’ll see what path the CDC takes. Airlines are tired of the complications of enforcing the ban they no longer want.

We got off of Riviera in Barcelona on Apr 2. I tested positive the next day. We were going to extend stay in Barcelona for a few days, anyway, but then I went to do the official test so I can catch my flight home and tested positive at the clinic. They told me I had to stay in Barcelona until negative. I went to the farmacia and bought home tests and within two days tested negative so I went back to the clinic and tested negative there. Oceania had rebooked our flights for the next morning so we happily went to the airport with our negative tests so we could come back to the US. Do you know who asked us for those negative test papers? NOT ONE SOUL! We got on the Tampa flight to Frankfurt, then to Washington DC, then to Tampa, and not one person ever asked us for a negative test re-enter the US.

Wow..... just wow.  The level of incompetence at every level is truly mind-boggling.

Though the responsibility is on the airline prior to boarding. They aren't supposed to let you board otherwise. But once they do, that's it. Didn't you have to prove to the airline the negative test prior to boarding?

I'm going to fly to Paraguay on Monday. So United is forcing me to not only provide passport but also vaccination card and a negative test. (The Paraguayan government also has a self-certification & tracking form to be filled out within 24 hours of boarding that United tracks, too.) And since it has to be within 2 days of boarding PCR) or 1 day (antigen) the flight into Asuncion, the United app even has the latest time they'll accept for the tests. And then I have to do it all over again for the COVID testing coming back, but this time within 1 calendar day of boarding the flight back to the USA.

Just to clarify, the Riviera was in Barcelona on April 4, 2022.

We saw many people being taken off in Marseille the day before.  Attached is a shot of 6 crew that had tested positive for covid and were escorted off the ship.

We were on deck 11 and saw the moon suite folks visit several cabins close to us.

You would think they would just quarantine  the crew onboard so they could continue their contract when better ???
