What a moment for Australia and P&O Cruises Australia! After 2 years of hiatus, #PacificExplorer departed Sydney, Australia on her first 4 night cruise to Brisbane marking the restart of cruising in Australia!

President of Carnival Australia and P&O Cruises Australia Marguerite Fitzgerald said: “Today is an emotional moment in time for so many people who have looked forward to the resumption of cruise operations in Australia and the rebirth of the $5 billion a year cruise industry.

Congratulations to Australia and everyone involved in making this happen!

May be an image of cake

As soon thereafter:

Just as cruises are resuming in Australia, a COVID-19 outbreak aboard Coral Princess has prompted Princess Cruises to offer refunds to passengers on the ship’s next sailing.

The cruise is not canceled, however, and a variety of mitigation measures are in place to protect both passengers and crew members.

Outbreak on Coral Princess

The 91,627-gross-ton Coral Princess, which just resumed sailings from Brisbane in mid-June, has reported approximately 100 cases of COVID-19 among crew members, with fewer than 20 guest cases as part of that total.

The outbreak occurred on the July 3, 7-night round trip sailing from Brisbane, which visited Airlie Beach, Cairns, Port Douglas, and Willis Island, before returning to Brisbane on Sunday, July 10.

Minister of Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath has commented on the situation. “There were protocols put in place as to what would occur if there was an outbreak and we are seeing an outbreak,” she said.

“Some of those passengers are being removed, they have chosen to isolate either home or in other accommodation and we’ve supported them in doing that.”

Biker, who wonders if RCI will be as generous when they resume sailing.

The ship docked here in Sydney this morning. Our state health department said that passengers could get off if they had a negative RAT but crew had to stay onboard. Currently there are 118 positive cases, 4 passengers and 114 crew who are already isolated. The passengers who got off said it was no big deal. The problem is the media trying to whip up hysteria with the constant reporting. Some are even calling the ship "Covid riddled" which is so far from the truth.

Google is your friend.  😉

Crew: 900

1st COVID encounter:  "News reports in early April 2020 indicated that the ship, with 1,020 passengers and 878 crew, with some suffering flu-like symptoms, was hoping to be allowed to dock at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to allow passengers to disembark."

The most important question is if they let Positive passengers off the ship and quarantine in a hotel room or drive home? If they wont let these passengers off the ship, it would be another "Diamond Princess" situation and also means they did not use 2 years of knowledge that we have learned from Covid!

It's right there in the news story:

I would trust the people that are actually there to describe what is going on.  Sounds like a lot of the crew are infected.  Wonder if they are the only people required to have testing.  Maybe everyone else is keeping quiet as they dont want to have to be quarantined etc.  Based on some reports here, the last thing I would do would be to report to medical if i felt sick.  The treatment of the positive folks sounds horrible.

Chances are since more of their ships are in service now(your quote was from April 2020), they don't have 900 onboard now or even 878 because of spreading some of their crew elsewhere..............I was asking for someone that knows more then Google................get an better idea from someone onboard now.....................Google is not your friend in this case. !!😉
