gardenmwm Posted May 9, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2022 I was wondering if anyone has tried the online sports books, specifically DraftKings and Caesar’s with their phone hooked up via Voom internet?
Cigar King Posted May 9, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2022 I don't see why they would work. Royal seems pretty generous with regards to what traffic they allow. That being said, if you do run into problems, connect to your VPN first. That will tunnel your traffic. Good luck.

Sounds like first hand experience with sites other than sportsbooks.
King10Sooted Posted May 9, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 9, 2022 Biggest issue would be location I would think with these type of sites.

The internet would work. But the apps may look at the landing point of the network. That's why when you type "google.com", you sometimes are greeted in another language since the satellite downlink is landing somewhere unexpected. Cigar King Posted May 10, 2022 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2022 Again, VPN will handle the location issue (if it exists) as well.

gardenmwm Posted May 10, 2022 Author #8 Share Posted May 10, 2022 I had heard that Royal's WiFi didn't always play nice with VPN's so I didn't even think about using that for the location aspect of the sports sites. I'll be trying it out for sure in a week or so.

Only some VPNs don't work and depending on where the ship is, it may still use a US based downlink location.
Cigar King Posted May 10, 2022 #10 Share Posted May 10, 2022 I usually do a Caribbean cruise and I am now retired. However, when I was working and checked after the fact where my connections were from, they were always Miami. If I used our VPN, they showed the corporate home. Hokiefan01 Posted May 11, 2022 #11 Share Posted May 11, 2022 Mobile sports books will not work when at sea as they require gps location access to verify location. VPN solution doesnt work for mobile sports betting as they need to have access to the gps location not the IP location. Now this is all the US state based regulated sites, if you do offshore betting that would most likely work.
