Parents just arrived at Norfolk port

For a 2-2:30 boarding time and the line seems to stretch a half a block..

 

I bet my dad is pissed..he thought most people would be on...

 

That's what he gets for not getting his usual suite and bypasses the horde..

 

I'm sure it will move fast but I'm dying laughing inside..

Likely a factor.

 

Norfolk cruise port also gets crazy long lines of vehicles for drop off because it’s right downtown. Local police to a great job of directing traffic, but there’s only so much you can do.

 

When I sail from Norfolk, I always get dropped off a few blocks away and hoof it. The terminal itself is fantastic, and they move the crowds through quickly.

They've been in terminal on the second floor for exactly 1.5 hours...

Wow! That’s unusual. I’ve sailed out of Norfolk 5 times, and always been through the terminal in 30-minutes time.

 

I do usually go for the earliest check in time.

 

I hope they get aboard soon! I drove past the ship on my way home from work today, and she’s a beauty!

Hopefully they are kicking back on the ship..I'm getting irritated now..

 

My mom usually texts me continuously.

 

My only request was to get a confirmation they were onboard..

 

 

Carnival can't help me...even though I have the booking and pin..

 

I just wanted to see if they checked in..

My friends had a noon checkin. It was a little confusing with the parking/bags/shuttle but I actually talked to them at 1:45 and they had already had a guys burger and gotten into their room.

Our parents had a 12:30 checkin I dropped them at 10:45ish; they were on the ship by 12:00pm;  : WISH I WAS ON THE SHIP TOO

I thought so! Good news! Now you can kick back & relax, & wish mom & dad a great cruise! They probably got caught up in the thrill of stepping onto a fabulous ship...went to get a funship special, did the muster drill, dropped off their bags......and finally realized they haven't checked in with you. That's all. I'm 76 & my wife is 74. We older generation folks still got it together....it just takes us a little longer to 'get 'er done'!

  My parents followed their documents and were there at 2.

 

But people with late boarding appts showed up extremely early and were granted access to check in..

 

Evidently a diamond level traveler was infuriated because many people were jumping her in line...

 

My mom was hot and asked for water and was refused water...dad said if he would've known all that was going to happen  that he would have arrived at 10...

 

They are exhausted but enjoying the ship..

This was Norfolks first cruise in 2 years..I think they were obviously not prepared..

Everyone will have different experiences but hope that Norfolk contiues the good work!  I hate to see this great port not utilized better!

We keep in touch with a crew member we met in August on the Magic.  He had been on vacation since the beginning of March and he just texted me this morning to let me know he's back on Magic.  Now I know why he had time to text me - no one was on the ship yet!
