Dive-in Movies?

Recommended Posts

When I was on the Vista in 2018, I was surprised how many folks sit and watch the movies.

Seems the setup and popcorn and the selection of movies are good on CCL.  A lot of other cruise lines do not seem to get as many folks willing to sit out and watch a movie but each night on Vista was a good turn out.

But I also enjoyed the IMAX theatre too.

I'm also amazed at how many people love the Outdoor movies on cruises.

Pride had them from Baltimore and Legend doesn't and some people said they were canceling their cruise because Legend doesn't have Dive In Movies.

I don't get it.  I've never watched a movie on a cruise.

I don't get people who like to go to the casino on a cruise.

I don't get people who lay by the crowded, hot, disgusting pool all day.

I don't get people who play BINGO on a cruise.

I don't get people who take dancing or towel animal classes on a cruise.

That is the beauty of a cruise, they offer a VARIETY of things to do to make everyone happy.

I watched some on Vista 3/26 but, didn't see popcorn anywhere. Knew they had started charging $3 but don't think they had any? That late night wind can be downright chilly.

It’s set up at Red Frog Pub. The bar/wait staff takes care of it.

The Dive In movies are really relaxing and the night stars in the sky just adds to the excitement.

Agree. Just like going to old time drive in movies in the bygone era. And it is free.

ha I GET IT.   And you list could be so much longer.

But for me the movies on the ship if they are free and one that I have not seen, then I will participate.

And when there is a large crowd, that makes it even more fun.

Sitting out under the stars watching a movie is one of my favorite things to do on a cruise. It’s relaxing.

I think they quit the popcorn because of covid.

What does covid have to do with popcorn?  Not enough staff to serve it?  I thought the bar staff handled it.  I love me some popcorn with a movie.  Even Carnival's not so great popcorn

We love to do the movie when we are just ready to rest and relax.  It would really be cool if they have Top Gun Maverick playing on our Halloween cruise and my hubby can pretend he is back on a carrier in the Navy.  LOL.... Will just bring a big bag of Skinny pop for us to enjoy. 😃

We don't casino.  We don't do much bar hopping, or bars in general. We don't Bingo. My DH will not dance and we really don't want to take a "class".  We LOVE movies.  We LOVE them.  I'll never forget watching Gravity on a moonless night in the middle of a dark sea and the stars spread out like huge handfuls of diamonds across the sky.  And Captain Phillips, the next night, had added adrenaline because of the same dark sea and star strewn sky.  We're on the Mardi Gras in December, and if we could see Top Gun: Maverick again, WOW !!

Years ago we were on a cruise and thought we would check out a movie we had never heard of, San Andreas.  When the tsunami picked up the cruise ship and rolled it over our fellow cruisers screamed and rolled off their loungers.  I count that movie one of my favorites because of that memory.

I am obsessed with the Dive in Movies. To be honest it is what hooked me with Carnival and kept me fairly loyal. It was severely missed when we switched lines. Just a great setup with both bars right there and cool sea breeze. Unfortunately our cruise last August the movies stunk, probably because Hollywood was still catching up after covid. This is a solid list here, cant wait to see what ours will be in August.

JH posts them on his FB page. As soon as he posts them there, I update my page for people who don't want to dig around his FB page. It's usually a week or two out so It'll be close to Thanksgiving before those are released. But if you bookmark that page, it'll be there.
