ScottC4746 Posted June 15, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2022 I am thinking of doing one specialty restaurant on our Alaska Cruise. My evening "at sea" nights are: 3 September At Sea 6 Sept Cruising Inside Passage 6:30 PM - 1030 PM 7 September At Sea Other possible dates are: 4 Sept depart Ketchikan 4 PM Suggestions needed: Which date and time Which restaurant and why
Rare chemmo Posted June 15, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2022 Book both nights! On the at sea day book Murano. Have a nice rest in the afternoon, a very light lunch then enjoy the table side service that makes Murano special. On your sail away day from Ketchikan book Tuscan Grill as it opens (5.30/6pm). There are wonderful windows with floor to ceiling views. You can then be perusing your menus and sipping your first drink in daylight, enjoy your entree as it goes to dusk and sipping your coffee and liqueur after night falls….Magical! Barwick Cruiser Posted June 15, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 15, 2022 Have to also agree with @chemmo’s recommendation…was exactly what I was thinking when I read the thread title! Enjoy Solstice and Alaska OP, we’re on the Eclipse in September also to Alaska!
Rare itsanita Posted July 24, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 24, 2022 We avoid the specialty restaurants on the last Chic night, as that is usually the lobster night in the main dining rooms. Personally, I would avoid them while cruising the Inside Passage, as the view itself is amazing and would take away from the relaxing diner experience. Same feelings about the sail aways....love them with cocktails in hand. Would not want to be trying to enjoy both. We always go for the sea days. TMLAalum Posted July 24, 2022 #7 Share Posted July 24, 2022 Sunset from Tuscan Grille would be my choice! No sea views from the other specialty restaurants as I recall, except Sushi on 5, but that doesn't compare to the aft views from Tuscan!
Redtravel Posted July 25, 2022 #8 Share Posted July 25, 2022 skip specialty. Spend your money on excursions. In Alaska, we ate outside at the buffet in evenings to watch the scenery. You go to Alaska to see it. Enjoy.
North2Alaska10 Posted July 26, 2022 #9 Share Posted July 26, 2022 We usually go to Tuscan on embarkation day. There was a BOGO offer and we book an early reservation to watch the ship leaving. There are great views from the Tuscan. We also enjoy the special luncheons in the specialty restaurants during the week. Always superb service!
