Does Jewel have extended balconies similar to Celebrity's Sweet 16?

Recommended Posts

Looking at the aft deck plans of Jewel and wondering if the cabins at the back have extended balconies. Descriptions on the deck plans don't state oversize balconies, but wondering if its a well kept secret. Looking particularly at deck 7. I have tried searching the Cabin Compilation thread with no luck. Thanks for any insight.

I sailed in 9660 on Jewel a few years ago…rest of our group were in the other aft cabins on deck 9.   It was”deeper” than a normal balcony…lots of space!  I typically sail in a Sunset Verandah on both S and E class on Celebrity (sorry, not familiar with Sweet 16 description).
Go for it!

The cabins we are looking at are not the true aft cabins. From the deck plans, the last ten cabins on either side appear to have extended/deeper balconies. Some Celebrity Ships have the last eight cabins on either side, on a certain deck,  have extended balconies that are not highly publicized, and referred to on here as the Sweet Sixteen, and coveted by many cruisers. We are hoping for a similar well kept secret on Jewel.

Those balconies are problematic for some

A) view is poor looking down due to structure extension. All of 7 is pretty much that way

B) the dividing wall provides little privacy since it stops about half way out. Great if you like your neighbors

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and the photo which is very helpful. Looking down is not a big deal breaker as the lifeboats are often blocking the view straight down on the older ships, even from the higher decks. Funny though that they didn't extend the balcony dividers to provide more privacy and security. We have enjoyed the extra balcony space on other ships, but on Jewel it maybe not such a 'sweet' location after all. Thanks again for your insights.

For Acrophobiacs those deck 7 balconies are wonderful. That 5-6 feet of of boat deck deck cover that extends past your balcony prevents that heebie jeebie feeling:). I haven't done the aft ones on radiance class, but there are a few by the hump with pretty extended balconies. Cabins are not as big as the ones on deck 9 though.

The wife has one of those for World Cruise.

Yes cabins 7152 thru 7670 (both port and starboard side) have extended balconies.      We have booked these many times on Serenade and Jewel and love them.     They are also on the forward portion of the ship too.    Only on Deck 7.

Some people don't like them because the extended balcony portion about 3' or 4' is not under roof and people on upper decks can look down and see you.

the dividing wall is between the standard balcony portion not the extending portion but you can only see into your neighbors balcony if they are standing all the way out to the rail or if you peak your head around the corner.

if you look at my profile page on here you will see a photo I took that will give you a better understanding of the extension.
