havanadaydreaming Posted July 1, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2022 I think ive exclusively seen basa on the buffet this week. I remember first seeing that as a daily special at one of my favorite fishmonger restaurants in naples fl about 10 years ago. Several of us ordered it that evening. Wasnt impressed, so i googled it. Chinese catfish?!? Pfft. Havent had it since. I dont think ive seen any other type of fish species on lido. The MDR seems to feature salmon nightly, however. We have only gone there 2x, fyi. I might have missed some other fishies.
Rare crewsweeper Posted July 1, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2022 I've seen trout in the past and Rudy's has halibut, sole and snapper. Most "Basa" we see is the cousin to the basa bocourti that SE Asians eat. Called basa hypothalmus. It's farmed and is a cheap substitute for haddock or cod. Rare BlerkOne Posted July 1, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2022 I think they have salmon more than anything. Sometimes tilapia. Occasionally barramundi which can be good. First formal night I see striped bass. But who knows what they really serve.

Purvis1231 Posted July 1, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 1, 2022 The sea bass can be one of almost 500 different fishes.
SDPadreFan Posted July 2, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2022 On our recent 10 day Alaska, we had Grilled Mahi Mahi, Grilled Salmon ("from the grill" almost nightly), Grilled Tilapia, Pan Fried Striped Bass, Grilled Japanese Sea Bass, Blackened Tilapia, Teriyaki Salmon, and Grilled Barramundi. All were pretty much excellent. Think my favorite was the Japanese Sea Bass. Least impressive of the bunch was the blackened tilapia (but it was still quite good).
jetsfan58 Posted July 2, 2022 #7 Share Posted July 2, 2022 Carnival's grilled Salmon is very good. I actually had it each night of our last cruise. I am not a big fried or sautéed in calories sauce fan so I was in Salmon Heaven. My staple from here forward.
grantbob Posted July 2, 2022 #8 Share Posted July 2, 2022 I recently discovered the grilled salmon ceaser salad at sea day brunch. It is excellent!
