lsw0224 Posted July 3, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2022 Is Bonsai Teppanyaki ok for kids? I'll be on the Mardi Gras later this year and want to do Bonsai Teppanyaki for lunch during a port day. If the kids club is closed I'll have my 6 and 11 yr old children.
nwcruiselover Posted July 3, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 3, 2022 Kids are allowed to go to Bonsai Teppanyaki and as far as I know they pay full price. It would probably be fine for the 11 year old, but the 6 year old might be a little young for the Teppanyaki experience IMHO.
Colorado Beach Bum Posted July 3, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2022 Took our 8 & 10 yr old grandkids and they absolutely loved the food and experience.
vwrestler171 Posted July 3, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2022 As long as they behave, there shouldn't be an issue. That being said it does take a longer time for the meal, but the "entertainment" is worth it for us.
cruise_gal21 Posted July 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 4, 2022 Never been on a ship with this before. Is it basically Hibachi? Thanks

lsw0224 Posted July 5, 2022 Author #7 Share Posted July 5, 2022 Thanks. We do this at home so the kids will be fine. It's been a while since I cruised and only used the kids club maybe twice. But I do believe they are closed during port days
JeanieTheMom Posted July 5, 2022 #8 Share Posted July 5, 2022 We went on Horizon in February. The chef was funnier than anyone in the comedy club. I think the kids would love it! But I agree it does take a long time. And they serve a lot of food, probably way too much for a 6 year old.
nycny Posted July 6, 2022 #9 Share Posted July 6, 2022 I agree with the above posters but strongly recommend that if you want to go you book in advance through the planner. There are no lunch reservations available for our cruise and we are almost 200 days out. Booking now will require payment using either a credit card or cruise credits just FYI
Colorado Cruzer Posted July 14, 2022 #10 Share Posted July 14, 2022 If you have been to a great teppanyaki you will not be happy with Carnival's version. The food was very bland, sauces provided had very little flavor as well and the dessert tray was just funky. We had pizza after....lol I know taste is subjective but I will never spend on that again. teknoge3k Posted July 14, 2022 #11 Share Posted July 14, 2022 I though the filet and shrimp was really good!
Rare ninjacat123 Posted July 14, 2022 #12 Share Posted July 14, 2022 My mom and I had BT on MG and it was AOK! (See what I did there😄) I thought it was as good as any Benihana style restaurant I've been to and the chef was funny and sang songs. We all sang Carpenter songs with him! Fun experience! I agree, too much food for me so a 6 year old might only finish a little bit but if cost isn't a factor, do it! Also, go to Big Chicken and Emeril's. Yummy food!! Have fun on MG!!

Interesting. Our experience is complete opposite. We’ve had amazing meals, much better than any land based teppanyaki.
3smithboys Posted July 14, 2022 #14 Share Posted July 14, 2022 We just did a b2b on the MG. We loved Bonsai Teppanyaki so much that we went twice (once each cruise.) It is a lot of food, but it was so much fun!
jerseygirlinAZ Posted July 14, 2022 #15 Share Posted July 14, 2022 We just did BT on the Mardi Gras and loved it! Didn't take our 7-year old, but she's still pretty picky.
