NCL Introduces new "Free At Sea Plus" Packages

We both got internet as the free at sea offer on our cruise, and there is an upgrade option for both of us on the internet, so if what they are saying is correct then the offer must have changed at some point.

That is what I figured must have happened. I would love to know if anyone else has had this issue in the last week.

Not in the last week but this is what my UK PCC sent me prior to making my purchase (his email dated 27/08/22).
I honestly think the concierge got it wrong, I would be surprised if they did such a small change to quickly to just one region.

My confirmation shows we both have unlimited WiFi.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just logged on to my account to see if placeholder flights had been assigned yet and I was pleasantly surprised to see that NCL has finally added FAS Plus as an upgrade option online...

Now I just need to decide if the cost is actually going to be a good value in my situation. I am in the club that enjoys the MDR and Buffet, so while the extra specialty dining is nice, it's not something I would generally pay for on its own. Additionally my cruise is booked through CAS so I can grab water and Lattes at the casino bar. We are likely going to upgrade our internet and at almost $250pp which is half the cost of FAS Plus, so now left looking at the excursions to see if we would even book 5/6 in order to break even. First world problems, right 🙂

Mine is there too!

Choices Choices Hmmm.

$378 for solo traveler, $42x 9 nights + $90 stream = $468

Beverage upgrade: $313, 2-dinners: $71, WiFi upgrade: $170 (no stream) = $554 + $ $644

Only streaming internet: $260.

It it shows up for me as well, but I click on it, it says in cart, but that it's $0, and I hit confirm, and it still says $0, but acts like I have it.

Something not working right.

I ended up just calling my PCC and he processed it. He was also going to get me into an OV for no money as well since prices had dropped.

IMO...This is a perfect example NCL burying the nickel and diming and just boldly overcharging upfront. Most everything included in the package is at full retail...which means you pay through the nose on gratuities (where applicable). This is highway robbery lol,,,, But people go right along with it...smh.  The only real deal is included airfare... The current prices they charge are well below what you would pay booking on your own especially during peak holiday/Spring break periods. However you have no control in the flight times assigned...so its a crap shoot there too

The airfare is a great deal, even for solo cruises.  $179 to NYC RT for myself and free on top of that for 2nd guest if there were one.

Where are you flying from?! I have priced out cruises from NYC where they priced airfare from BOSTON at $449+ (and NO, it was not during any special travel weeks!) 🙄

Our airfare from Toronto to Miami was around $350 CAD for our trip in Nov. And we got the "2nd passenger flies free" promo.

Currently the same flight is over $800 for one person. Total win for us.

We sailed from Rome in August and paid $1099 pp USD from Boston (so really $550/pp) which was a GREAT deal when we booked it 2+ years ago!!!

Now they want $1149/person for Boston to London. That’s NOT a promotion. That’s full price airfare where I don’t get to choose my flights and will get stuck on a red eye with 2 inexplicable layovers, despite one ocean separating these two cities. So…yeah, I booked direct.

If their “free” airfare becomes a deal for the customer again in the future, I’ll certainly use it but I’m not gonna hold my breath for that to happen.

Solo gets discounted air. (50%) so if you had a second it would not still be $179, but rather $358 for one, free for second.

$218 per person ( 4 ) RT Bos to Panama 🤑 and one of us flys free !!! the only reason Grandma could say yes to a full transit and bring the 2 oldest Grands along 😄  ( just did a quick mock booking on flight over $1500 each 🙄 worst flights available  )

Maybe I am overthinking this. I am thinking of purchasing FASUP. With regards to the extra $50 excursion credit I do not understand the terms and conditions. What does it mean when it says "if the first guest purchases shore excursion tickets for other guests, the promotion and $50 Shore Excursion Credit will not apply to such tickets"? If I purchase shore excursion for me and my wife, wouldn't we both get the $50 shore excursion credit? We already have Free at Sea with one $50 shore excursion credit per port, so with FASUP wouldn't we get $50 each?

As long as you and your wife are Guest 1 and 2 on your reservation, you would both get the excursion credit.  Guest #1 gets it from FAS, Guest #2 gets it from FASUP.  Bear in mind, if you have Latitudes discount, you will only get the discounted credit.  For us, it is $40 not $50.  Still a value to us on a port-intensive cruise.

I'm not following you. The shore credit isn't discounted. They deduct the fifty then the latitudes discount is applied to the remaining balance of the excursion

Perhaps…but after having already purchased 4 excursions before adding  FASUP, instead of getting $50 per excursion ($50x4=$200), instead we received $180 credit (10% less due to Latitudes discount). Maybe different if, a) no discount, or b) not prepaid.  Regardless…when I was calculating savings, I expected $200… not the $180 we received.  We are still ok with the upgrade.

I see what you mean now. For us [I'm platinum, too] the actual value of $50 is $45.

The latitudes discount is given after the free at sea discount. Therefore, the amount that the latitudes discount is calculated on reduces by $50, meaning that is reduced by $5. The net effect is that the price from adding free at sea plus reduces by $45, not $50, despite the full $50 credit being applied.

That's incorrect.  I'm also Platinum, looking at my confirm now.  On a hypothetical excursion

List Price:                 $129

LESS: FAS/FASUP    ($50)

Subtotal:                     $79

LESS: 10% Plat         ($7.90)

Net cost                    $71.10

So the 10% discount is after the FAS/FASUP is applied but you do get the full $50.
