GoPortCanaveral offers transportation / hotels in one package when sailing from Port Canaveral. Port Canaveral is 45-50 minutes from the Orlando area if there are no traffic issues. You can also check Melbourne FL or Sanford Airports for pricing / convenient flights from your home airport.  I have found that hotels in Orlando / Port Canaveral can be cheaper than Miami, depending on the time of year and what major events may be going on.

For cruises from Miami, check flights to both Miami and Ft Lauderdale. Hotels in Miami will usually be cheaper near the airport than closer to the port. Uber / Lyft or SAS transportation are probably your best transportation options.

Cruises leaving from Port Everglades and the Port Of Miami are easily accessible from either Miami International Airport or Hollywood Fort Lauderdale International Airport. A cab from MIA to the Port Of Miami is approximately thirty dollars plus tip. A cab from FLL to Port Everglades us approximately fifteen dollars plus tip. It’s more expensive if you fly into FLL for a cruise out of Miami and the same if you fly into MIA for a cruise out of Port Everglades. I have done these scenarios numerous times and never had a transportation problem. If your cruising from Port Canaveral you have three options for flying. MCO to Port Canaveral is approximately a  one hour trip. There are numerous shuttle services that charge per person.I normally rent a vehicle from MCO and stay overnight in the Cape Canaveral area. I drop off rental vehicle in Cape Canaveral on embarkation day and either shuttle or cab over to Port Canaveral. Some regional air carriers fly into Melbourne Florida which is south of Port Canaveral or Sanford Florida which is north of Orlando. I have never done that scenario personally and know that flights into those smaller airports are limited.

Welcome to Cruise Critic OP. For MIA cruises most fly into MIA or FLL and Uber to the port.  For Canaveral, everyone flies into MCO.  Personally we stay in the adjacent airport hotel zone and then take a pre-arranged shuttle down to the port on cruise morning. Doing a search of threads here in the Florida departures section will give you good info. After you've done some homework, come on back with any detailed questions.

You didn't mention Fort Lauderdale but that should be thrown into the mix earlier in your cruise planning.  The airport and the port are separated only by a highway.  You can watch planes take off and land from the ships in Port Everglades and you can see the ships from the airport.  There are plenty of hotels very near the airport (Dania Beach) and even more between the airport and Port Everglades (17th Street area).

Cruisers often find that when sailing out of Miami, it is worth considering flights into/out of Fort Lauderdale and local hotels since they generally are less expensive than in Miami but, of course, you have to add transportation costs to/from Miami (it is 30 miles between Port Everglades and Port Miami).  So do the math to determine if the savings are worthwhile.

Southwest Air began serving Miami a few years ago. That caused a notable decline in some US air prices to/from Miami. Especially for two or three months out fares.  LUV doesn't usually show up on Expedia and the other booking sites, so you do need to go to their site to check fares, etc.

Assuming you would cruise from Orlando/Canaveral if you flew to MCO....it is an hour drive from the airport to the port.  If you were sailing out of Miami and flew to Orlando...it is a four hour drive from MCO to POM.  Along with substantial traffic possilbilities.

Sailing from POM....flying into MIA or FLL, the ride would be much less.  FLL to POM is about 40 minutes, traffic permitting.  MIA to POM is 20 minutes....traffic permitting.
