Tripmode33 Posted July 21, 2022 #26 Share Posted July 21, 2022 Thanks for the tips on motels and transfers. Much appreciated. I will explore these options further.
Brisbane47 Posted July 21, 2022 Author #27 Share Posted July 21, 2022 There is a lot of accommodation in Hamilton, others may offer a parking/shuttle to BICT deal. It might be worthwhile searching accommodation on Google Maps and then look at individual motels for info. Places along Kingsford-Smith Drive will likely be noisy from traffic. Racecourse Rd also has a number of cafes/restaurants.

Still no good if you live in the Brisbane suburbs. We live about 15-20 minutes from the airport and the quote to BICT was a special transfer for $100. A trip from the cruise terminal to your home would obviously just be for you and whoever was travelling with you. A taxi would probably cost less than $100. Had a look online at Con-x-ion site and came up with $20 per adult or concession adult and $40 for two persons between Brisbane domestic airport and new BICT Pinkenba. Rang them and they confirmed this pricing. Not sure if a taxi between two would be more than $40???

Perhaps, on another site, some have reported less, most have reported more, but then there is a timing issue as well.

There are always plenty of taxis at the airport and they are ready to leave immediately. At the cruise terminal we saw several taxis and many more driving up to the terminal, but it would probably be easier to get one if the passenger disembarked fairly late in the process. At that time new passengers would be arriving in taxis. If the passenger opted for early disembarkation, it would be too early for new arrivals. cruisermsoon Posted July 27, 2022 #35 Share Posted July 27, 2022 Recent cruise from Brisbane and return to Brisbane City: Had time to do the 50 minute City Cat ferry to Brett's Wharf, a short step to Southern Cross Drive, hailed cab to terminal, $35 [Sunday rates] Return trip to Brisbane City by cab $45 [also Sunday rates]. Note that the Doomben train line operates Monday to Friday only, and it's a fairly short walk from the station to Southern Cross Drive [have not actually done this as prefer the City Cat if time available and it's a fine day].

Southern Cross Way goes north between Eagle Farm and Nudgee. 16 minutes ago, cruisermsoon said: Note that the Doomben train line operates Monday to Friday only The Doomben train does run on Saturdays, but not on Sundays. There is a 303 bus on week days which will take you from Doomben station, via Portside, almost to the cruise terminal gates, but it only runs before 8:00am. Unfortunately, there is no way to walk into the cruise terminal.

Rare cruiser3775 Posted July 27, 2022 #40 Share Posted July 27, 2022 I checked with Hamilton Motor Inn and they no longer do a cruise terminal shuttle to the new terminal

I don't think we could ever cancel the Southern Cross, or could we (it might be offensive to those in the north or those that don't believe in the cross). 😉
