I'm aware. Just pointed out that the language is written in such a way that should CCL decide to do so, they could offer stockholder OBC only to those who purchased rack rate. Gunther1 Posted July 31, 2022 #54 Share Posted July 31, 2022 I occasionally sail with their “Friends and Family” rate; the OBC doesn’t work with those.
Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted July 31, 2022 #55 Share Posted July 31, 2022 Here are two semi recent threads discussing carnival refusing shareholder obc. Appears a recent change in policy where they might now be enforcing the language in the terms. The first thread the gal used a simple locality rate. https://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/topic/2815256-carnival-shareholders-obc/

So, those of us who hold CCL stock should continue to be punished because of the suspension of dividends and the price of our investment? There are people who are making investments in CCL in order to obtain those OBC based on what I read online. Excellent long term investment decisions? Not at this time. But, what would happen if these "buys" were not happening?

I didn’t say it was a good business move, just that ccl “could” make obtaining the obc much more challenging based on the terms. I even linked you to two threads where Cc members are reporting this is already happening. See above

At least a half dozen people reported that shareholder benefits which were honored previously are no longer being honored. Of course, Cc members maybe wrong, but read the threads to see that this is being reported as a recent change. Yeesh- don’t kill the messenger, I’m only sharing info. Lol 😂 No attempt to kill the messenger. I respect you too much to do so. No, I don't follow those types of threads. I have no interest in doing so. I depend on what I read in the reports I receive yearly from CCL regarding the OBC. There have always been the situations that disqualify one from getting the OBC. If one who expects an OBC because of this doesn't understand that, that is their problem.

Sorry that copied so small, here is the link to find the actual wording: https://www.carnivalcorp.com/static-files/50351a91-4dc0-4f6b-bfec-684647e6129f The terms clearly state 'anyone cruising on a reduced rate', which, to me, opens the door for CCL to refuse lots of shareholder obc requests should they decide. Just because they haven't done so in the past doesn't mean they can't do so in the future based on this language (again, I'm making no judgement on whether or not this would be a good business practice). Are you seeing the phrase “not available to the public” on older terms and conditions? I linked to the newest terms expiring 2023 and that phrase is just not found anywhere that I can see. DaveOKC Posted July 31, 2022 #65 Share Posted July 31, 2022 I have received the stockholder benefits for many years and pretty much paid for the 100 shares with the OBC. During the past 8 months I booked a casino free cabin offer which resulted in no credit (the emailed me a rejection) and a few months after that a deeply discounted rate one (casino discount and great perks available to all) which I did get my usual $100.
