Muffinz Posted August 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2022 Does anyone know if the Brisbane cruise terminal has moved? We did a cruise in 2018 and the cruise (Celebrity Solstice) docked near where the imported card get unloaded - and it was miles away from anywhere from memory We are on another cruise in Feb 2023 (Majestic Princess) that also docks in Brisbane, but looking at Google Maps it looks like the cruise terminal is right by the Airport - is this correct? We just want to know because we're interested in going to the DFO shopping center that's near the Airport any help would be appreciated

It is about a 15 minute drive between them and according to google maps, about the same to DFO. Edited August 2, 2022 by possum52

Yes it is, but it's on the opposite side of the runway to the airport terminals, so it's quite a long trip between. To get to the DFO you would need either a shuttle bus (if there is one) or a taxi. Taxis can be quite scarce at the cruise terminal, so it could be a good idea to order one ahead to pick you up at a certain time. There shouldn't be any problem getting a taxi at the DFO to come back.

We have therefore revised the itinerary for your 2023 Seven Seas Explorer cruise. The originally planned overnight call to Brisbane, Australia on January 28 & 29, 2023, will be replaced with a day at sea and a visit to the town of Mooloolaba, Australia. In addition, Seven Seas Explorer will sail to Newcastle, Australia on January 27, instead of the originally scheduled sea day. Just north of Brisbane, Mooloolaba boasts some of Queensland’s most beautiful beaches while Newcastle is the gateway to the Hunter Valley wine region and scenic area of Port Stephens. Mrs f. Posted October 27, 2022 #7 Share Posted October 27, 2022 Found a lovely full day wine tour in Newcastle, so not a total loss. Mooloolaba will be a beach day.

That's interesting... I can't find any information online about Brisbane Cruise Terminal closing / ceasing activities... and according to Princess Cruises it's still listed as a stop on our cruise in Feb 2023 the cruise terminal in Brisbane is brand new and was only just opened this year too

I can't find any information online about Brisbane Cruise Terminal closing / ceasing activities... There are (or were) two cruise terminals in Brisbane. One at Portside near the city which catered for ships up to about 250m length and a new one at Luggage Point on the mouth of the river which can take all sizes of ships. It looks like all ships will now be required to dock at Luggage Point. This is much more out of the way than the old Portside terminal, which is probably why the small ship lines don't like it. We took our first cruise from Portside in 2012 on a P&O ship. Only smaller ships could dock there and once the ships wanting to dock in Brisbane became bigger, they started using the Port of Brisbane dock at Fisherman Island where you docked in 2018. Now the new terminal is open, Portside has closed. I don't understand why Regent and Oceania are not going to use the new terminal.

cayman09 Posted October 28, 2022 #12 Share Posted October 28, 2022 Viking has also cancelled for that time period. They are giving the same reasons to their passengers in a written emaik.
saz25 Posted October 28, 2022 #13 Share Posted October 28, 2022 I have the same question, why can’t Oceania and Regent dock at the new terminal? is it really that out of the way or is the port only wanting big ships ?
