US Customs at Port Everglades ?

I realize there can be several variables, and having never done this in FLL, generally speaking what have you experienced for total time going through customs?  Our ship docks at 5am and I am considering an 11:15 flight to book to get home.  I am not a "cut it close" kind of person when I fly and I have no problem hanging around an airport when needed for peace of mind.  I know it's a quick LYFT ride to the airport and on paper this seems really doable.  I guess I am asking if there are delays disembarking and at customs am I cutting it to close?

What ship are you on? If it is an Edge Class you will use Terminal 25 with facial recognition, don't even see an agent. If another ship and there are no Edge Class ships in port that day you will also use Terminal 25. Do you have TSA pre and/or global entry? That will get you through security faster.  We've easily made a 10:30 flight.

We've made 8:47am and 8:49am flights; we have CLEAR and did have backup flights booked which I cancelled after making it through security.

You'll be absolutely fine even if you don't self carry.  If there are long baggage lines consider curb-side check in.

You are returning from a TA if I'm not mistaken.   Disembarkation in FL after returning from Europe can take longer as there are a bunch of inspections and the crew must all clear immigration.   I'd say in most cases you should be fine but I'd have a backup plan.

On one of our TA's returning to Miami disembarkation didn't start until around 11 am.

Immigration/customs won't be an issue for you as you should be returning to Terminal 25 and use facial recognition.   It's really just when they are allowed to start disembarkation.

I also believe you will be in a suite so I wouldn't worry about self luggage carry off as your luggage will be first off the ship and you will be able to be escorted off the ship within minutes of the self carry off people.
