Why are British Isles cruises so pricey?

Not often cruised.

High demand e.g. golfing in Scotland and Ireland. As a player or part of the crowd watching.

Unusual itinerary

I've noticed that Azamara cruises that cover Ireland, England and Scotland tend to be twice as expensive as comparable cruises in the Med? Anyone know why?

Over the years, we have done a couple on Quest which have both been fabulous. Both captains told us that UK port charges are (were at that time) amongst the highest in the world.

Do not let that put you off.....two of our best cruises with Azamara ever.

Because they can get it.  If people stop booking at those prices they will find some way to reduce.  In a competitive market you raise your prices until demand starts dropping off. Then you either reduce your prices or more likely leave your prices alone and have sales.  That way you can easily get your price up again.

Not just Azamara, look at cruises with any company around the UK or with a lot of UK ports and they tend to be a lot more pricey, there is the supply and demand aspect but I think port charges and maybe even cost of goods and fuel maybe higher as well?

The Antartica cruises seemingly triple for Azamara and the even smaller cruise ships are even higher!  Of course if you start by celebrating Carnavale first then they all get higher!
