dleighb Posted August 12, 2022 #176 Share Posted August 12, 2022 Finally had a moment to catch up. Did the speed test for you since we have Basic. We are in the aft part of the ship, port side, deck 7. Not sure how long this will take to upload, but maybe you'll be able to see it before tomorrow some time. We may try to use some of our shipboard credit to upgrade to Premium though as we aren't using it for alcohol like we though we would. I've been managing any of my photo uploads in ports using my phone's hot spot. It hasn't been too bad to deal with. Thanks for the moscato sub recommendation. We have found there isn't a lot of point in asking for something specific or on the menu. They typically don't have what we ask for and we end up with a substitute. My husband went for a wine flight tasting as advertised in the Schedule and they didn't have any of the wines for the flight. The bartender also seemed clueless that there was an "anytime" wine tasting flight that you could chose from during certain hours of the day. *shrug* Alcohol seems to be a hot commodity. We are just off our first Celebrity cruise,Apex to the Baltic, and also enjoyed the game shows each night with our teens. Great that you’re including some of the entertainment options. We would love to do this itinerary but there are quite a lot of sea days - is there enough to do, especially when the weather isn’t great? We loved our Apex cruise last November. Did they wheel out the Tree of Life in one of their production shows? That prop cost over $1 million to create! Asfar as things to do on sea days, you can check out the Today sheets I post every day. But for us, we go to the lectures, usually 3 on sea days and then to an afternoon game show and trivia in the afternoon. Here’s a picture of our crowded it was at the 11 am lecture today. But as you might notice the majority of the audience was seniors. 😁

Not quite sure what a wine tasting “flight”, so if you could elaborate that would be great. Just went on the balcony with the sliding door closed, as my DW wants to stay warm and I love sitting out in the open air, and took this test around 12:40 pm. The download speed is strong, but the upload speed is definitely a little weak, especially if you’re trying to upload some large photos like I’m getting ready to do. Well, 3-4 mb size photos anyway. Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 12, 2022 Author #180 Share Posted August 12, 2022 This morning there were 3 lectures, one at 9 am, 10 am and 11 am. We went to all 3, but were a little late finishing breakfast, so we missed the first part of Mike West’s “The Queens of the Seas” lecture. Then there was Dr Thom Duryea’s lecture which explained how the “Vikings” spread their influence early on. Then is was time to learn more about forensic science by Norma BTW the upload of the pictures didn’t take long at all! 😁

That explains, though, why I’m not seeing any whales. The horn is scaring them away! 😂

That is why I love the northern routes like Norway, UK, Alaska and NE. looking forward to your photos. I won't get to Greenland any time soon but will do Iceland (god willing next year)
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 12, 2022 Author #188 Share Posted August 12, 2022 Went to an intense game show this afternoon up in the Sky Lounge called Mad Gabbin. The goal is to guess what the clues given actually represent. For example, here’s an easy one.

He showed me these 3, all of which require a Premium Beverage Package to get them by the glass for free. Hope this helps. Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 12, 2022 Author #193 Share Posted August 12, 2022 (edited) This evening after another tasty dinner in Blu, it was off to see the production show, Intimate Broadway Cabaret. But IMHO I have to say we must have been spoiled by the E and S class production shows (since cruising started back) up because the shows we’ve seen so far on the Constellation (in Dec) and now on the Summit have just not been up to Celebrity standards. But, like I said, that’s just my opinion. Then it was off to the evening game show in the Rendezvous Lounge to have a good laugh. Tonight is was Friendly Feud. Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 13, 2022 Author #197 Share Posted August 13, 2022 (edited) This morning after having a late breakfast in Blu just before 9 am, we missed Mike West’s lecture on Funnels, Flags and Funny Paint. However, we’ll be able to watch it later on TV, like we can with any of the other lectures we might miss. But we were able to see Dr Thom Duryea’s lecture on “Viking Discover of Greenland”. Interesting side note, I didn’t realize Greenland’s climate was warmer back then than it is now due to the direction change of the Gulf Stream flow back in the 1300s, as noted in the last slide. Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 13, 2022 Author #198 Share Posted August 13, 2022 BTW I’m sitting on the balcony with the current temperature at 49F, with a light coat on of course. But another perk of booking an aft-facing cabin is that there is usually very little breeze, if any, while the ship is moving. So you can do something like this if you’re addicted to the balcony during downtimes like I am. 😁
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 13, 2022 Author #199 Share Posted August 13, 2022 I haven’t seen any whales yet, but I did just see some wildlife flying behind the ship looking for anything tasty to zero in on. Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 13, 2022 Author #200 Share Posted August 13, 2022 After another tasty lunch at the Spa Cafe, we headed over to the theater to watch Norma give another very interesting lecture on finger prints and DNA.
