On the previous cruise a few people were complaining that they couldn't get a booking at the steakhouse at all. Apparently they are only doing 200 covers a night. I plan on doing it once on the last cruise. Just for something different. I haven't made a booking. I was hoping mum would get a complimentary one thru the casino. Were they booking through the app? I've heard that it isn't always accurate as to whether there are available tables. Try going to the restaurant, either the night before or early that night to see what is available.

The beverage menu is very good, there is lots of variety. Medallion ordering works well most of the time, but plenty of bar staff taking orders the old fashioned way too. happy cruising everyone! We had most of our pre-dinner drinks in Crooners. My friend likes sweet drinks only so a few times we asked the waiter to surprise us - and she was not disappointed. She enjoyed the Milky Way and also the Baileys Raspberry. On the last night they made her a Grasshopper! I prefer a bit less sweetness so the Sidecar was a good choice and also the Manhattan and Chairman of the Board. We did try quite a few over the week. LOL

I play the ' oh please can you help me, I'm so useless with the app' often and get great service. 1

LOL My new favourite pre-dinner drink is the Flamingo. I used to love the Lemontini but on our last cruise it tasted different - perhaps a different brand of citrus vodka - so it wasn't as nice. I love the Milky Way as an after dinner cocktail.

I'm a bit peeved with the app. Since adding the 3rd Sept cruise to the 13th Sept cruise we already had booked it has lost our complimentary suite dinner for the 13th. We have to change cabins that day but the app seems to be only recognising the cabin type for the first cruise. I'll sort it out when we get onboard. Rare arxcards Posted August 21, 2022 #306 Share Posted August 21, 2022 It is staggered dining, so tables are rarely filled. It also makes sense to have the right amont of fresh ingredients, and the right ratio of chefs & waiters. I am sure any unbooked vouchers are accommodated. This one is a 3 nighter and we were undecided on whether to do Bayou, but was pretty much booked out a couple of days before boarding. The longer the cruise, the more chance of getting a booking after boarding. There is also a backlog of vouchers, as plus fares included a specialty dinner at one stage. The one we booked a couple of years ago with that has been pushed back & back and won't be cashed in till October.

I understand that you can't book these complimentary speciality dining until you are on board (unless it is the Suite first night perk). It would be a shame to miss out on the promo inclusion because of no availability. I found that when I was booking dining on my computer it told me that I had complimentary speciality dining available and allowed me to select which night and restaurant I wanted it. So I did just that and booked Sabatinis. However I have B2B and when I bring up the second trip to book the dining times it gives me the itinerary for the first leg even when I log in using the correct booking number. eeeee Win some lose some! It still shows the same cabin for both cruises which is also wrong.

It would be a shame to miss out on the promo inclusion because of no availability. I have an upcoming cruise in November on Majestic Princess. I also have complimentary speciality dining for one night. Tried using the Medallion app to book Crown Grill using my freebie but would only accept payment which at $29 each pax was a no brainer, so booked and paid. Then read a post here (thank you Ondine) which suggested using the laptop/computer website, which I did. I booked the French Speciality restaurant and instead of paying it "Reserved" my booking. So will pay for this booking using my freebie when onboard. Worth giving it a try. Edited August 21, 2022 by CCC's

JohnGc Posted August 21, 2022 #318 Share Posted August 21, 2022 Bit cheeky but I would like to know if there has been many older people on recent cruises. As a couple of don't feel it 80 year olds that have managed to dodge Covid, it would be interesting to know as there is no info on the ages of people presently booking. Are the older generation avoiding booking cruises until assessing the situation or are they just going for it. Difficult question but maybe our members that have completed or are on a cruise have noticed, or maybe not if they have been having a good time.😄

There were a great range of ages on board, especially as it touched school holidays. Our “formal” photo on board in June! I am 71 and my DH is 83! So we def qualify as senior 😂😂😂
marinating Posted August 21, 2022 #320 Share Posted August 21, 2022 Love the excitement of being in a hotel the night prior to hopping on a ship! Will be watching out for the Coral tomorrow morning, looking forward to 22 nights of doing nothing! Thank you to those on board who have shared their experiences, the anticipation is at fever pitch!

My issue is that I had Sabatinis booked for the 13th as we move to a suite that day but the new booking for the 3rd seems which is B2B with the 14th has clobbered my dinner booking as far as I can tell. Of course it might still be in their system just not being picked up by the app because we don't have a suite for the 3rd cruise.

My wife and I have until the end of Nov before one of our cruise payments are due and we have to decide to risk it or not. As mentioned before the wife will have been one year since Chemo. At this stage we are keen to go as the cruise is only in Australia. By the way that is a great photo.

Most of the itineraries so far have been short which suits the younger age group who have work commitments. But there are plenty of us seniors onboard.
