Where to get a Covid test

We hope to visit Australia and  NZ in October/November. Our return to Canada is from Perth with a connection in Japan. I am really regretting this routing.

We have to have a Covid test within 72 hours of the flight. We will be in the Margaret River area at that point.

Can someone tell me where as a visitor we might be able to get a Covid test or at least the type of facility to look for. The qualitative antigen tests are not acceptable so I suspect a lab has to be involved. Probably Perth.

This company appears to have a Margaret River testing facility although it is only open on weekdays.

I used Rapid Trace —-you have to have a test kit then the proctor watched and emailed me a letter with the results $25 US

I've never heard of Rapid Trace in Australia, and the cost of testing done here is in AUD.

It is proctoring - supervised travel tests done over a video call. Lots of Aussies doing these in hotel rooms in Seattle and Florida. In theory, they can be done anywhere in the world, including hotel rooms here. You get the same sort of travel certificate as for a supervised RAT at your chemist.

Unfortunately Japan doesn't recognize this type of test which we have done before. It is possible we will be ok as only transiting in Tokyo. Trying to confirm with the airline.
