3red7s Posted September 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2022 Folks, We booked our alaskan cruise which goes to Sitka, Skagway, Juneau & Victoria. During the week we have 2 days at sea. We have never been on an Alaskan cruise. For a "sea day" where do you go? Are you in places where you can view whales & seals? Can you view fiords & glaciers? Just trying to get a feel for what we can see. Thank you
smokeybandit Posted September 2, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2022 (edited) You're just going to the next port. You won't see any glaciers, but may see wildlife and plenty of scenery. Edited September 2, 2022 by smokeybandit

latebuyer Posted September 2, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2022 Are you leaving from Vancouver? For second day you’ll be in inside passage which is quite scenic. Not sure about second sea day.

neverbeenhere Posted September 2, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2022 Plenty of ocean and a few ships(maybe whales) to view. Grab a chair at the Solarium and see what you see.
ATSEAMYLIFE Posted September 2, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 2, 2022 We did that same itinerary and we were in the inland passage and glacier bay for sea days. Never really in the open ocean.

Rare DaKahuna Posted September 2, 2022 #13 Share Posted September 2, 2022 We are on the Quantum of the Sea now and both our sea days are in the open ocean. Going north, you will see land on the horizon on the starboard side but it's predominantly off in the distance. Returning to Seattle, the land (mostly islands) will be on the port side of the ship. Unfortunately we are not sailing the Inside Passage on this cruise. My favorite things to do on sea days are to people watch, take a nap, or sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. Sea days are my favorite.

Those days can be also be kinda rough, being in open sea. If you sit out on your balcony, you will see some whale spouts and dolphin. Example from our cruise this year.
