Shiraz49 Posted September 6, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2022 We're sailing Grand Princess Melbourne to NZ over Christmas/New Year ..... Hoped to be celebrating my daughters Wedding Anniversary as a group of 8 ...... Sadly Princess advise that max. seating is for 6 but we could have 2 tables if we wanted ..... WE DON'T. Just want 1 table to seat the group. Has anyone had any experience with them in getting extra seating.

If they can do it, they will.
skynight Posted September 6, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2022 Believe I remember seeing tables for 8 in both the Crown Grill and Sabatini's. Suggest you book what you want, then visit the restaurant on boarding day to explain the seating you prefer. There should be some ship tours on line where you can see the seating. For normal evenings the regular DR does have tables for 8.
XBGuy Posted September 6, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2022 I specifically remember a dinner at the Crown Grill on the Grand Princess where my wife and I were seated next to a large party of 12 who were seated seated at two adjacent tables--six people at each table. (I specifically recall this event because, we shared the same server with this large party, and he was being run ragged. The headwaiter was nowhere to be found, and, so, the poor guy did not get much help. Not surprisingly, service to our table suffered.) I don't think I've ever seen a table larger than a 6-top at any Sabatini's restaurant. I am pretty sure they can't just move some tables together. Whether they could add a couple extra chairs to a 6-top table is not clear to me, However, I would think that would be uncomfortably close for you though when you are trying to relax and enjoy your celebration. Your best alternative is to look for a larger table in one of the Dining Rooms. I have confidence that you can be accommodated there.

In May on Caribbean Princess, we had a party of 14 in Crown Grill. We were seated at an 8 top and a 6 top.
Rare Coral Posted September 7, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 7, 2022 We had the most traveled party at Crown Grill on the Grand and they had us at a table for 8. I would book a table for 6 and 2 for the night you want and then ask them once onboard.
erni Posted September 7, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 7, 2022 The last time we were on the Grand we had a party of 10 and we ate at the Crown Grill twice and both times we were all seated at one table for 10
CruiseCrabs Posted September 7, 2022 #9 Share Posted September 7, 2022 We had 12 at one table for our post-wedding dinner. Our TA had to make it happen but it is possible.
