dbrown84 Posted October 7, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2022 Anyone been to Puerto Plata in the last few months? I have an upcoming cruise with a Puerto Plata stop and can't figure out which port NCL now uses. The NCL websites still says they dock at Amber Cove while folks have reported that NCL now uses Taino Bay. To make matters worse, both the Amber Cove and Taino Bay websites have the Getaway on their calendars for the same days.

I actually cruise next Saturday, so I'll find out. I'll watch out for any live feeds for the cruise that leaves out today on the Getaway. They will be in DR on Thursday. I wanted to hire a driver which is why I wanted to be sure of which pier we're using. I think I'll just pick up a taxi outside of whichever port 2
Swells1 Posted October 8, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 8, 2022 Please let me know. I have an excursion booked, and the tour company will provide pickup at either port.
Karaboudjan Posted October 8, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2022 We were there in January and docked at Taino Bay. However, I believe that after the Escape grounding they switched back to Amber Cove. I don't know if everything got worked out and they are back to Taino Bay or not. 1

helene109 Posted October 8, 2022 #9 Share Posted October 8, 2022 I did the same search for my Escape in April and it shows Amber cove on their pier site but my NCL site says Puerta pier very confusing.

St. Thomas and San Juan are foreign ports when it come to closed loop cruises. The only time a "distant foreign port" is required is on reposition cruises.
