We were busy with little stuff plus the weather (cloudy and very windy) made the event seem less inviting. How was it? It was pretty much a bust and we left before sail away. JeanieC,Aston Posted October 24, 2022 #155 Share Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) Why does Celebrity exaggerate transfer times when selling shuttle tickets….. Palma centre by public bus from terminal is 10 mins and cost €2,,X say 20 mins and charges $10. Water bus from La Seyne into Toulon is no more than 10-15 min and costs €4 return. Celebrity say 30 mins and charges $20 Edited October 24, 2022 by JeanieC,Aston

I'm surprised that a frequent cruiser doesn't take advantage of it to win it. Or a clever B2B cruiser. I asked the Park West attendant about that last night but didn't get an answer that I understood. I cynically concluded that apathy prevented anyone from submitting a guess. I also thought that maybe it was a scam and no one ever won or claimed the prize (I was tempted to place a discreet marking on the back of the dog to allow me to determine if this is the same dog statue I'm looking at in future cruises). We were confused by that as well…that is not the prize if you guess the weight correctly..it is some print that we were not that interested in…

Hardly any traffic this am.

Tip..for those who love shoes there is one street in Palma called ‘Calle Sindicato’ that is all shoe shops.real leather. I guess the real question is what do you get as a prize? I saw someone win a print of a picture in an 8 1/2 X 11 envelope and then they put a hard sell on her to buy a frame for it.
Rare mahdnc Posted October 24, 2022 Author #166 Share Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) We took a full day small group tour that @Bob29321 arranged independently with a local company. There were 21 of us and we were on a comfortable large bus that could have handled twice the number of people. We had a bus driver and an English speaking guide. We spent half of the day at the quaint village of Valldemossa (where we had lunch). The second half of the day was spent at the resort city of Palma. We were picked up and dripped off at the cruise terminal. No flat tire today, so it was a successful trip. After I snapped the photo, I heard a "hello" behind me. It was @wayneg1 (Wayne and his wife Karen) who were enjoying the string music. I asked that we meet there at 5pm on the first sea day for drinks) because I want to get their perspective on the current British political situation. Loved the strings duo. Listened to and interacted with them nightly in Cellar Masters. Enjoying your report so far.
mrsgoggins Posted October 24, 2022 #170 Share Posted October 24, 2022 I’m enjoying your report and photos. Wayne and Karen are friends of mine so I’ll be checking their social media site for even more immersion and living the experience through you all 😄 Constellation was my first Celebrity ship years ago when we had the brilliant Alejandro as Cruise Director. Rare mahdnc Posted October 24, 2022 Author #172 Share Posted October 24, 2022 A couple photos from the pier as we got back on Constellation today. Seeing the fresh food supplies being loaded at Palma made me wonder how well the food holds up during our six straight days at sea.

Rare mahdnc Posted October 24, 2022 Author #174 Share Posted October 24, 2022 A few random thoughts: 1. Angeline, our stateroom attendant, did not have our room made up for us after we returned from dinner tonight and last night. She apologized and said that she didn't realize that we had early seating until now. So we should be good. 2. Last night was Evening Chic. Knowing that there is a recurring question on this CruiseCritic board about how many people actually dress up, I counted the number of males wearing suits that I could see from our table in the MSE. The answer was 18 out of 60 (including me who was in a suit). So 30%. One data point. Early Seating. 3. I've been reading about how long room service can take. We've called room service twice. Once for a late lunch after we got back from our flat tire shore excursion at Toulon (45 min turnaround time). Another time was tonight when we ordered dessert (49 min turnaround time). There is no way to order room service using our stateroom television. None of the short cut buttons on our stateroom telephone go to room service. You have to know to dial "52". After dialing there was no hold time before a live person answered. 4. NFL football games were shown on our stateroom television. The big problem for me was that my Steelers (@ Dolphins) had a Sunday night game. Normally a good thing because it guarantees I can watch them at home, playing on Sunday evening was not a good thing on this cruise because it meant that the game started at 1:30 am since we're in Europe and so I couldn't watch it. It didn't matter because they lost anyway. It's going to be a long season.
