Advice on newbies to Majestic Princess please

My husband and i are sailing on Majestic Princess for first time on 8th Dec. on a 13 night cruise.  We are not tech savvy at all so having great trouble completing online checkin through Medallion app.  We are Elite status (most of our points are from P&O cruises)  but I gather this counts for nothing when it comes time to try to get onboard without somehow managing to get to GREEN status on the app.  Without this we will have to queue for hours - is that correct even though we have ticked boarding time of 12 - 12.30??  Meantime we will keep trying to muddle our way through Ha! Ha!

We can prebook evening meal times etc before boarding - is this necessary or is it OK to just book each day once on board?  There seems to be 3 main dining rooms for evening free dining - do you recommend any one in particular ( I assume the menu is the same in them all).

We have paid for  the standard drinks package - Does this cover any cocktails or only spirits and beers?  I know the value is up to $16 per drink but don't know what the current charge for cocktails is.

Any tips or advice about enjoying our cruise onboard this ship would be greatly appreciated as it is always a bit confusing when sailing on a ship you haven't sailed on before.

We cannot wait to sort cruising again - Carnival Splendour 8 nights on 10th November, then Majestic Princess 13 nights on 8th December, then Majestic again 11 nights on 24th February.

Thank you so much for any info you can give me.

You drinks package covers cocktails up to AUD$16 as well as beer, spirits and glasses of swine.

If you are having problems with the Medallion app, have you tried the web version? The link is on your Cruise Personaliser. You can then enter info using your computer. If you have problems, you can go onto a live chat with someone at Princess or phone them  - working hours only of course. I found the live chat reps and the phone reps very helpful.

Subtle hints of pork. 😉

You have the earliest boarding time, so you will get priority either way. The delays incurred last Thursday will be unlikely to be repeated - just a first of season thing.

There are plenty of cocktails under the $16 point - so if you are cocktail drinkers should have no trouble finding a tipple or two of choice. As noted by Julie, wines are pretty so so though I did manage to drink something ok with meals.

I hope the wine drinkers are going to put in a complaint to management.

I was on a ship once where there was a near riot because they didn't have the favourite brand of soda water ?  I had never heard of it, but see it everywhere now.
