coldflame Posted November 10, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Folks, I'm looking to take advantage of the shareholder benefit and was wondering if a trade confirmation from my broker is enough or do is there a hold waiting period before I can make use of the benefit? TIA.

TIA. Yes, trade confirmation will work. I just sent a transaction record showing the stock puchase on the day I bought it and NCL posted OBC on all my upcoming cruises (have to attach a completed form for each one) within a day. Don't forget to do the same if you have any other NCLH bookings (I also have 2 upcoming Oceania cruises.)
dbrown84 Posted November 10, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2022 This is good to know. I just purchased 100 shares so that I can now take advantage of this for future cruises.

Plus I do think it will gain enough in value to be worthwhile. Do they send you an email when it’s approved or does it just show up somewhere on the website? You will get a return email and you should also get an Amenity Confirmation. You will then see the OBC on your online reservation. It's definitely worth it if you cruise often - it's free money! 😊 I just purchased my shares this month actually, and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. Between my upcoming cruises I have already booked $500 in OBC, plus the stock price has gone up enough that I'm ahead $100 there lol. So, about a $600 return on a $1,500 investment within 2 weeks. Better than I do in NCL casinos lol. And as long as they keep the OBC perk, it will just keep on giving.

I normally receive an email confirmation and an updated amenity form, but the last time I applied (via email), the OBC just appeared in my onboard account. Didn’t receive anything by email. I guess it doesn’t hurt anything to try again, I don’t know how consistent they are with it, or if they note your file. I have Carnival stock and it has pretty much the same exclusions. Princess will not give me the OBC when I book an interline rate, but Carnival does. https://d1io3yog0oux5.cloudfront.net/nclhltd/files/documents/623650_-_NCL_Shareholder_Benefit_Offer.pdf
ChiefMateJRK Posted December 14, 2022 #15 Share Posted December 14, 2022 I'm finally on board with this (I admittedly had been asleep at the wheel). I bought 100 shares in a brokerage account and submitted the request a day or two later. Since I didn't have a proper statement yet, I downloaded an account summary that showed the brokerage logo/letterhead and the 100 shares of NCLH. I suspect that inhibited an "automatic" credit, but after 9 business days the OBC showed up in the cruise summary. I've yet to receive an email or amenity invoice. I'll get a "real" statement on Dec 31 and use that to request OBC for other future cruises. Has anybody had any problem getting the OBC awarded for a cruise that is more than four months out (i.e. before final payment?)

I wait until two months out as I feel that if I send it in too soon they might not process it as I could sell off in the many months between sending it in and the sail date. Would be interested in hearing the responses to your question.

Never had an issue requesting it before final payment, have done it many times. I requested OBC a few weeks ago for late May and mid September cruises - no problem, took about 5 business days. If doing multiple requests, make sure you do them as separate requests. You should get a case # when you send in the request, you might or might not get verification when the OBC is applied. I just did 2 requests - I got an email for both but only got an amenity invoice for one. Sometimes I don't get anything.

I did get the immediate case # email when I submitted (it appears that is auto generated). It just showed up in my cruise summary and I haven't received any other emails. This is a really nice perk, especially since the NCLH stock is in the toilet. I can (and did) invest $1600 in NCLH stock and I'll get a $100 dividend for every cruise. We tentatively are planning to cruise NCL seven times in 2023.😎
dbrown84 Posted December 14, 2022 #19 Share Posted December 14, 2022 I also just bought 100 shares to start taking advantage of this perk. I was going to wait until about February for my April cruise, but now I see I can go ahead and submit now, especially now that we're past final payment

thedarklord Posted December 15, 2022 #21 Share Posted December 15, 2022 I bought 100 NCLH in June and sent the info over then for our cruise in March '23, so 9 months ahead. Got a new amenity invoice within 3 days showing the credit ($250 as it's a 15 day cruise - treating it as a $250 dividend against a $1600 share purchase feels like a pretty good deal!) That is not true. All of my cruises in the last year and a half (5 of them plus one cancelled cruise) have been booked as a CAS comp or discount. I have two more booked in March and April of 2023. I got the shareholder OBC on every one of them. Edited December 16, 2022 by Russiamomm Typo
