Indonesian Rijstaffel Dinner at Tamarind

We've enjoyed this on Pinnacle Class ships on pre-Covid cruises.

We'll be on Koningsdam departing December 3 and curious if anyone knows if HAL continues to offer this, and if so, if it is usually on a particular night of a 7 day cruise.

FWIW - I wish they were continuing the deLibrije pop-up event but know that's done.

Koningdam had this in October and it was a VERY popular evening.

How did you find out about this? Was it advertised on boarding? Sounds really great. We just got off Transatlantic on Oosterdam and an Indonesian meal was offered on the second last night, but was not on the menu and was advised to us by dining room staff. It had to be ordered the night before and was a plated main course. During this cruise we also ordered the Indian main course on several days. Again, it needed to be ordered the night before and was delicious and not particuarly spicy.

Tamarind had the Rijstaffel, not the MDR, on the Koningsdam.  Your info is very welcome. Concerning the Indian menu: you can order any degree of spice you wish.

We had this on our cruise to Iceland/Norway/Scotland back in June/July on the Nieuw Statendam.  We didn't hear about it until I happened to see a sign posted for it on board.  The dinner was completely sold out but we were able to finally talk our way into getting reservations for it.  It ended up being one of the best meals of the trip (we have been to Indonesia before and the food at Tamarind for the special dinner was just as good as the food we had in Bali).  It was a few appetizers, about 6-7 entrees (you got a small portion of each), and dessert.  Highly recommend it!

Do you remember the pricing?

We had the Rijsttafel twice on Rotterdam in October and enjoyed it very much. It was advertised and bookable on board and was priced at $ 35,40 per person, tax included.

Appetizer Urup and the Soto Ayam served seperately, the rest on one plate.

Librije is still offered on ships sailing from the Netherlands as departure port, like Rotterdam this passed season. But when they left for the transatlantic, they only offered it on the last sailing out of Rotterdam, but not the sailings that do not originate in the Netherlands.
