Has anyone taken and/or recommends the America's Cup Regatta excursion in Philipsburg? It looks quite interesting on NCL's website but just looking for some first hand experience.

Do it…………A great experience for all ages.

A photograph taken when actually race helming is a great moment to treasure.

Yes, there is an actual competitive race between two yachts, with patrons as the crew.
The smiles at the end are huge, win or lose.

Although the yachts are “Old School”  compared to the beasts of today, one does not fully understand the power and speed of these yachts until feeling it through one’s senses.

Wish one a great day.

PS. As there are only 2 yachts……Book early

Is this open again?  Has been closed for last couple of years.

It's a good experience if you have ever raced sailboats, but no experience is necessary.  Lots of different "positions" that don't require any sailing skills.

But it is NOT a sailing-sightseeing leisurely cruise around Great Bay.

My DH is super excited to do this on our Magic cruise in 20 days!!  I'm going to be in charge of mimosa making (just kidding!)😉

There is a billet for bartender as part of the crew.  Have a great time.

Is there any reason to not book direct, rather than the more expensive NCL excursion?

I assume it's exactly the same, with no additional transport provided or required?

Try by all means to book direct, but NCL may have booked out the whole day/s well in advance.

I WAS the bartender!  We were waiting to board, sitting together as a team and the coordinator said "anyone with physical issues?" I said I had frozen shoulders (true, but I was recovering) and he said "ok, I have a job for you" and my DH spoke up saying "bartender!" and the coordinator affirmed.  My DH loved doing the main grinder position with another guy.  I passed out waters, sodas and beers when able to then collected the empty cans and bottles.  Had a blast!!

We did the 12 Metre Regatta pre-pandemic on a cruise with our two younger boys (something like 14 and 16 yo at that point). We all enjoyed it so much then when I went to book our upcoming December cruise I made sure it included Philipsburg specifically so that we could do it again. We travel extensively with our boys and this is still one of the activities that they talk about when we mention our Caribbean cruises. Great fun and I highly recommend it.
