Normally don't do the casinos on Princess. We don't like the smoking that's still allowed.

On our recent Princess cruises, casino smoking was pretty light and restricted to a small area.  That restriction was not enforced, however.  We mitigate the problem by playing during the day.

We were booked in a regular mini suite on March 29, 2024 but have been "upgraded" to cabana mini suite. Normally, I would be very excited, however, the cabana mini we have been assigned is above the buffet. I know for a fact I would not be a happy camper if it was below buffet but wondering if anyone has an opinion about being above the buffet. I realize no one has sailed on the Sun at this time, but anyone have a similar cabin on another ship that is above the buffet. I was shocked to have received an upgrade so early.

I am really surprised to hear of an upgrade so early also. Is that on deck 10? Being above it should not be a problem  We are on deck 9.  WAYYYYYYY in the front of the ship but may try to change it later when cabin numbers are used instead of guarantee.  We actually moved our cabin from those right on the sun deck. Don't want people walking and being in front of our cabin and because our cabana would not be right on the ocean

How exactly can one get "upgraded"? Never happened to us.

We booked a reserve Cabana as far forward as possible on deck 9. Crossing fingers we don’t have the high glass like is shown in the renders

Excited to find out one day which special advantages category CA brings with it. Too much confusion at this point.

Check out the rendering. Seems to be the bow end of the Cabana Deck. You see the high glass on the right?

 

If I get this and the deck plan for deck 9 right, 09106 should be further forward so you should not be having that stuff in front of your cabin.

Thanks! We had a cabin right there and moved to a cabana cabin outside of the sun deck because we can see that those cabins will have people sitting and walking by right in front of them and the cabana is not right at the ocean but sits back. If we haven a balcony cabin, we want the ocean nright below us

The new Sun Princess rendering does seem to show high glass all along deck 9. I think this is where some of the Cabana rooms will be?

If you look at

the renderinjg above, the left shows cabana cabins right on the sun deck./  There are also cabana cabins (C2) at on either side of the sun deck but not ON the deck. It is accessed by walking down the hallway

The pink are C2  That is where we are located. The sun deck is at the bottom of the picture which is shown in yellow and are C1.

So orange, C1 which have direct access to the Cabana Deck and purple, C2, which should have  balcony glass directly looking down to the sea. But both will have higher glass than standard balcony glass according to the rendering.

Yes, it is on deck 10. To be specific it is 10501. I could not believe we received an upgrade so soon either. In fact, in the 15 cruises we have taken with Princess, this is the first upgraded we have received.

The deck plans are on the Princess website. You can go to the site and see where everything is. No need to wait.
