LPut714 Posted January 17, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2023 We are doing our first back to back on the Mardi Gras in a couple of weeks. Have booked Rudi's for Valentines day as we have some OBC and gift cards. I am reading mixed reviews. However last time we were at the Steakhouse on Carnival it wasn't top notch. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks
Knights on the Beach Posted January 17, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Comparing our experience on Mardi Gras at the steakhouse (March 2022) vs. Rudi's (December 2022), I wouldn't hesitate to pick Rudi's again - but I ate steak there, I don't eat seafood. Service, atmosphere and food were better at Rudi's. I will say the steakhouse on Freedom (October 2022) was way better than MG steakhouse, which surprised us. VIFP1987 Posted January 17, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Having eaten at both restaurants on MG, I think my steak at Rudi’s was far superior to my steak at the steakhouse. My friends were very happy with their seafood choices at Rudi’s as well.
WKUTopperFan Posted January 17, 2023 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2023 My recommendation after dining at both on my Mardi Gras sailing in April would be go with Rudi's. The entire dining experience was better at Rudi's compared to the Steakhouse. I wish I would have dined a second night at Rudi's that sailing but they were booked solid and I couldn't get in a second night.
Theo1429 Posted January 17, 2023 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2023 We did MG in April ate at both steakhouse on first night had steaks and smoked oysters which were nice and large it's was a nice causal night. Ate at Rudi 's second dress up night had a table outside the food and service was excellent. Would eat at both again. But Rudi's would be my first pick
DanOO Posted January 17, 2023 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2023 We were on the MG for NYE. Did Rudi’s and the 555. They were both very good, but Rudi’s was better in my opinion.
iria64 Posted January 17, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Did both last August. Steakhouse was ok but nothing really special compared to steakhouses at home. Rudi's I would definitely eat at again. I think had the red snapper which was very good.
Rare lazydayz Posted January 17, 2023 #9 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Another vote for Rudi’s. On our last MG cruise, we went to Rudi’s three times. Having previously dined at both on the MG, we find Rudi’s superior so we book it before the cruise to make sure they have room for us.

Rare Jamman54 Posted January 17, 2023 #12 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Loved both. Went with seafood at Rudi's, and the rib eye at the Steakhouse. 😎

Ilovesailaway Posted January 27, 2023 #14 Share Posted January 27, 2023 I know that the OP is asking about MG but when I asked the same question about Celebration everyone told me to book the steakhouse over Rudi's My question was about having a solo meal but I find it odd that these recommendations are the opposite. Ilovesailaway Posted January 27, 2023 #15 Share Posted January 27, 2023 I should add that when I asked about Celebration I specifically asked about ordering steak at Rudi's the Steakhouse.
cmichael1221 Posted January 27, 2023 #16 Share Posted January 27, 2023 We always do both! The Teppanyaki lunch or dinner is well worth the money too... Between 3 Mardi Gras cruises and 1 Celebration cruise, we never ate in the MDR, other than brunch...

When we went I would consider both resort casual. Not real formal.

The steakhouse seems to be the most strict about jeans/shorts/etc, saw a few people get turned away, but not sure it is always the case
MsOne Posted January 27, 2023 #20 Share Posted January 27, 2023 I'm not a foodie but these comments have definitely made me curious about the menu at Rudi's...and also the food and atmosphere. Might have to plan for this on next Carnival cruise.

That was the only requirement. But we did see a gentleman being seated in the steakhouse as we were leaving, so who knows how much they enforce it. LOL Just wanted to know how many pairs of pants to bring. 2 elegant nights, and we are booked for teppanyaki, The steakhouse, and Rudi's. Might add another Rudi's on before we leave. Why do they call it a pair of pants when it's one item? Why do you drive on the parkway and park in the driveway? Some things perplex me. 😉
