ATM

Are the ATM at the Auckland airport a good source for local money or is it better to use an ATM in city center. Have never used one before and any help would be appreciated.

I found this useful article: How to avoid paying bank fees.

 

"If you withdraw money from an international ATM with your regular debit card, you’ll be hit with 3 different fees:

1. Your bank’s fee for using an ATM outside of their network (usually $2.50-5 USD)
2. The ATM’s fee (usually $3-5 USD)
3. An international conversion fee (usually 1-3% of the transaction)"

Why do you need cash / NZ$ . ? Tap and go what you need . Coffee , beer,  lunch.

You left out no need to tip.

I was in NZ in Nov. I had $80 left over from last time I was there and I spent about $30 in cash. I like to have some money so if I go in a church for example, I like to leave a donation or buy a postcard. Everything else I bought, some for as little as $4, I used the tap and go.

 

My bank here in Aus recommended a certain bank in NZ that I would charged the minimum fees, so to go to one of their ATM's if I needed cash. I didn't and I've got plenty left over for next time 😊
