Carnival Magic out of PC is some big rock fest at sea thing and tonight there's a huge concert in Cocoa Village with Steel Panther and others....

I've already read of noise complaints from the area...LOL

This is the line up onboard....I know a few, always liked Suicidal Tendencies

That would be interesting to hear about. I’m actually going to see Parkway Drive in two weeks. I’ve been on the mailing list for the headbangers boat which is NCL. It sold out almost immediately and the prices were pretty crazy. Like the cheapest room would’ve been $2,400 on a 4-day cruise to Nassau.

I'm interested too, but the crowd that hangs out here isn't much interested in music themed cruises, I've found.  Perhaps there's a roll call?  I'm too lazy to look, sorry.

Other notes on music themed cruises:

  • Carnival isn't much of a player in the charter cruise market anymore for whatever reason; they don't even list their charters anymore at their site.  NCL, Celebrity, HAL, and Royal all have much bigger pieces of this pie.
  • Princess has some 80s themed cruises over the next few months where 80s tribute bands are featured.  They've had some in the past couple of years.  I was on one in late '21 and will be on one in a few months.  I think they're a lot of fun.
  • I will be on two music themed charters in the next two months.  I like the themes on both.  I actually sailed the same two last year and wrote some reports on them; search around and maybe you'll find them.  I'll probably write up this year's cruises in some form.
  • Music themed charters are great but @Saint Greghit on a key point - they can be very expensive, even for the cheapest cabins.  $600 ppdo per day isn't out of line for these.  I'm paying about that for one of my upcoming cruises.

70000 Tons of Metal on RCCL leaves in 9 days.  Rooms still available!

Yep!   Can't wait!   This will be my 7th sailing...and I truly, truly wish it could be on a Carnival ship.

Royal's Freedom class ships are nice, but they are sadly, sadly lacking in free/included dining options, especially compared to Carnival's Vista and Excel classes.

At least that cruise has some familiar names.

Yes, a few.   Prior sailings of 70K have had "bigger" names, though.   I'm happy with the lineup, as there are some longtime stalwarts for me (Insomnium, Amorphis, Evergrey, Dark Tranquillity), lots of new names to check out, and some that were real jaw-droppers since I never expected to see them again (Melechesh, Keep of Kalessin).    60+ bands total, and we're still awaiting the final 6 or so to be announced.     😮

DH and I just got off of Magic and had heard from the crew about this charter.  No one knew who was playing, so thanks for posting!!🎸🎶😁

Depending on the nature of the charter and the clientele, lots of the crew will be very happy for it.  Sometimes charters will go to ports that the ship doesn't normally visit and the crew gets to see a new place rather than the same old, same old.

Two cases I can remember, both involving the 70K Tons charter:  Royal's Majesty of the Seas going to Cozumel instead of her usual CocoCay, Key West and Nassau rotation; and twice visiting Grand Turk on Royal ships...which is normally unheard of since Grand Turk is a Carnival-built port...and a great one.

Nah... none of them look familiar either - except the limited fonts they seem to use for all their names! lol

That's what's great about music - so many choices for so many tastes !!

HERE'S the one and only chartered music sailing we've been on. Great fun!

Thanks for sharing your experience.  The only name I recognize from your cruise was Train.  They've moving up to hosting their own charter cruise.

That's pretty cool. I was looking to see if there are any videos from this cruise yet. I see one with "Stowaways" Randy Blythe and Dave Ellefson performing Metallica's "One." Randy is the lead singer of Lamb of God who headlined it last year. They aren't on it this year...They're doing a NCL one in October...but I guess he came anyway. He must really like the cruises. And Ellefson is the former Megadeth bassist.

We are on the next sailing tomorrow.  Just notified that we will board an hour later.  Clean up?😁🥳🤪

They do have quite a big stage setup on lido. I doubt that's stored on the ship.

@Tom-n-Cheryl:  I finally got through your thread about your trip experience back in the day.  I have so much to say to you and the other posters there about your experience and how it's changed from then to now, and from Sixthman to other charter companies.  But that thread is archived and locked, and I don't want to annoy the other posters/lurkers here, so I'll drop it and say that I enjoyed your report very much.

I still think they should inform all guests about later embarkation.

You did, you got that letter.

I leave Sunday and we have the Miami Marathon to maneuver through, when did we find out?

Today we got a letter

I see Corey Glover listed, saw him years ago with Living Colour; opened for The Rolling Stones back in ‘89 on the Steel Wheels tour.

Loudest show I’ve ever seen was Living Color at a small club in the early 90s.  Probably partly responsible for my middle aged tinnitus!

One of these days I plan to hit a Jam Cruise or Cayamo. I just always have a hard time justifying the $$ when I could take three regular cruises and go to a few local festivals for the price.

Living Colour was a last-minute replacement on The 80s Cruise last year and they're a featured act this year.  Ask me how I know. 🙂

Yeah, these music charters are very expensive, but you can get premium seats and possible extra access ("Oh look!  That's Greasyhaired Rockstar grabbing some lasagna at the trough!  Let me go get his autograph!!)  When you account for that, the value evens out a bit.

In my neck of the woods, we have one festival of note which mostly has artists that aren't of interest to me.  And we get the odd performer at the nearest Native American casinos.  So, to see several musicians of interest to me in the same place is quite appealing.
