Royal vs Ruby Pacific NW

So, anyone care to speculate why the Royal is less expensive than the Ruby for the same cruise, Pacific NW rt SF April 23 vs April 30. Also, the Ruby seems to be almost sold out which leads to higher fares, so maybe the better question is why isn't the Royal selling as fast? 🤔

Fewer passengers and a fully wrap-around covered Promenade deck for viewing. The cover is a bonus in bad weather.

Well if royals customer service is the same as ovations I can understand why mainly talking about guest services.

I’ve been watching these cruises and have similar questions,  the Royal cruise is now past final payment, but the Ruby one is not. I don’t think that is all of it though.

Back in October last year, a lot of people received casino discount to book the 4/30 Ruby for only $149 per person (Inside cabin). It came with $100 OBC per person also.

The 4/23 Royal did not have the same deal. It may be the reason why Ruby seems to be almost sold out. Most people took advantage of the casino offer at that time.

Its been said that the R-Class (Pacific Princess) were the last ships designed by sailors. Royal Class ships were designed by accountants. Consider that the former Pacific Princess had a higher cost per day per passenger than a Grand Class ship. Cost of operation was shared over less than 700 passengers on the Pacific, instead of over 3000 for the Ruby.

The Royal Class packs in even more. As to why the Ruby is nearly full? It is a matter of taste but many, including us, prefer the Grand Class ships.

Not the reason why Ruby is nearly full.

It is because this cruise was heavily discounted back in October. Only $149 pp and came with $100 OBC pp.

The Royal cruise to Pacific NW was at least $500+ pp.

There was a thread to talk about that back in October.
