“Move Over Letter”

Just got an email from Princess offering free cruise fare if I move my sailing (leaving Feb 18). It is given in the form of OBC and whatever is not used is issued in cash. Does this mean the sailing is overbooked?  Do they not have the crew needed to operate?  I don’t want to take the offer (and not sure if it has any value to me because I’m on a casino free offer) but it’s making me nervous. Anybody have experience with this?

ANSWER NOW!!!! - then figure it out if it works for you - but yeah - you might be able to move it to a non-casino offered cruise

It’s oversold.  We’ve taken it before. See exactly what is offered or if you don’t want it at all then DECLINE.

They Will get enough, as they keep offering different incentives to move.

They also did this on a caribbean cruise for next week. Those OB now, were offered a full refund if they didn’t take the next one on their b2b and a free cruise for later.

I had experience with a moveover offer but it didn't involve a casino comp.  If your's is a comped offer and you aren't being offered an upgrade then giving you back OBC for your fare is meaningless since there is no fare.  And yes, it does mean that they are oversold.  If you turn it down they will keep trying to get someone else to accept the offer.

Do you mind me asking which cruise and ship this is on that's leaving on the 18th?

Probably the Sky?  Those Caribbean cruises are really full.  OP’s probably trying to figure this out. 🤔

I'm on the Sky this weekend as well that's why I was curious to know if it was that ship or not.

The boss move would be to go back to Princess and tell them what you'd want to move over to a different cruise.  Put them in the position of responding or making a counter offer.

Like the punch line of that old joke..."We've established what you are.  Now we're just haggling over the price."

Happy Valentines Day💗

Yes, not same day, if you’re local it’s not as hard.  But, these Feb ships are really heavy.  The Enchanted is full also.

Yes, definitely find out what is being offered. Previously, i took a move over offer, pre-pandemic, and it was well worth it. They gave us free cruise for 7 days, plus the fares already paid as OBC. FREE cruise in lieu of current sailing. Fare refunded as OBC.  Why not? JUST, my personal experience.

If OP is on a free cabin casino cruise already, then there is nothing they are going to offer in OBC.

I would call and ask to be moved only if they would upgrade the cabin and make sure you are getting the princess plus package - time to bargain.

They are listing the fare as $550 per passenger (2).  I just don't know if they are offering me that because I didn't pay it or I would still get it as that is what the casino I got the certificate from paid? (Venetian in Las Vegas).  I've tried calling but can't get through and the live chat was useless.  I am supposed to reply by email and they'll answer with 48 hours - but we leave in 72 hours to travel.  I don't like cutting it that close. Plus, I just don't know of a better time we can go that works with our schedules so I will probably just ignore the offer and go on the cruise.

I'd say go this week and enjoy yourself. Sounds like you already have your heart set in going. Do what makes you happy.
