Parkhopper Posted February 15, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2023 If you are offered a double occupancy balcony room as a casino comp, but wish to sail solo, do you get double points?

It is my understanding that if you book double and change to single, you do NOT get double points. But, if you book single occupancy, and keep that, then you will get double points. cruiseguy1016 Posted February 15, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2023 I'm probably wrong but I thought if the cruise was comped (meaning you didn't pay for it) you didn't receive ANY points.

Yes, you are wrong. You do accrue points for casino comped cruises. M Edited February 15, 2023 by cruisegirl1

The room is "paid for" (just not by you) and you do get points.
TYMAN Posted February 15, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2023 The cabin is comped, but you still pay taxes and port fees. My DW & I get the same offers as our 25yr old son and he sails solo. He gets double points each time. The only difference is if we both upgrade to nicer cabins, he pays the same upggrade price as us even though he is a solo. You still have to pay Port Fees and taxes, but pretty close to free. 🙂 We have an 8 night Mariner in May that costs us $119.83 each in Port Fees/Taxes and $11 to upgrade. $239.66 total for the two of us. My son paid pretty much the same amount and will get double points for the 8 nights. Nice.

You've paid for the "free" cruise by gambling on one or more prior cruises.
