Amsterdam cruise port transfer to Centraal train station

We will arrive in Amsterdam on Sunday at 6 AM and travel by train to Wiesbaden Germany.

What transportation options are there? And at what time do you recommend the train departure?

If you are arriving at Amsterdam and not nearby IJmuiden, you can actually walk to the train station in 10-15 minutes.  It is a smooth sidewalk the entire way.  I’ve done it twice, with luggage on wheels. 

 

There is also a tram that can be taken. I will leave the tram details to someone who is familiar with the details.

Yes, it’s an easy walk from Amsterdam cruise terminal to Centraal station, otherwise you can catch tram #26 from near the terminal which will take you to the station in about 5 minutes. Or there are cabs.

 

Amsterdam to Wiesbaden can be done with just one change of train, at Frankfurt Airport. There is one on a Sunday from Amsterdam Centraal at 9:07am which takes just over 5 hours. That should be easily doable as long as you’re off the ship by around 8:30.

We also walked from cruise terminal to train station with luggage and had no issues.   Follow GPS on your walk however, as it is not intuitive what route to take.   If raining, you can catch a cab.....

Bit it will be quite different if you disembark in IJmuiden.

We usually walk like the previous posters, but on one disembarkation day it was raining, so we looked for a cab.  The taxi driver was not happy at all taking us to Amsterdam Centraal (he wanted a more expensive fare to Schiphol) and gave us some attitude.
